J. Thorin Moulin-à-Vent Château des Jacques

1962 Chateau Des Jacques, Moulin-A-Vent, Beaujolais. Oh my God. This was absolutely STUNNING!! The color looked excellent through the glass so I had fairly high expectations, but as soon as I pulled the cork (Durand bottle for sure!), the scents of red berries and sweet Earth leapt from the bottle and I knew that I was in for a wild ride. In half bottle. Wilted rose, consummate, plum fruit, iron, funk and earth on the nose. Palate had generous fruit and acidity with moderate plus length. It had some orange peel, smoke, and sweet dark fruit. There were still some tannins left despite its age. Drinking beautifully. Believe it or not, even in half bottle, it will still age for at least another 10 years.
