Further to my Note of Oct 4 '19: Another bottle with consistent notes. Some amber edge and bit of beef bouillon but still pleasant. Notes from a bottle of the '00 in the same box suggest that it's held up better than this '99.

Records not handy. Bought a few for 16-18/b from either Sam's or Binny's about 15 years ago; this is #3. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple; fragrant dark fruit intially; rich fruit, very good mouthfeel; good persistence. Nose and body started turning plummy after about an hour--interesting but not as appealing. Initially delicious, certainly not disappointing, given its 20-year age. Notes from earlier bottles suggest reticent nose and body 10 years ago; probably best 3-4 years ago. …

More old than aged. There is some dark fruit and earth to enjoy but trending towards its twilight.

Mature nose of bacon, balsamic, and fall apple orchards. Noticeably dry up front. Plenty of apple and cherry fruit. Not at all tired. Paired with fettuccine alfredo.

Bought at auction ... ... making mental note to capture its flavor, as a younger super tuscan was blind tasted along with three chianti classico. The key difference (aside from age) is that the international varieties bring structure while (in this case) long oak aging gives rounded tannins and the chocolate/mocha notes. Beyond all, there is a savory element to this wine ... tomatoes simmering with herbs, sage, spice, that one might not get on a chianti classico

Stood up to a rich bolognese. Evolved slowly suggesting some life left in this vintage. Bright fruit and cinnamon on the palate. Good legs, good time had by all.

Annual Wine Group Summer Event - Loads of Wine (Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN) : edium red/brown color. just had small pour of this. Pleasant, but not compelling, seemed to have past its peak window and was on the decline. Fruit fading, but still fairly tannic.

Medium dark red. Very prominent cherry and leather on the nose. However, after decanting, the fruit was subdued and the acid seemed to dominate. We had it with pizza, as did others apparently, and it worked OK. The sangiovese component lingers on the finsh.

1st bottle from case - bought at release - cellared at 55 - Dark red, amber edges - Leather and dark fruit on the nose - Good balance between Sangiovese and Bordeaux blends, although Sangiovese is a little prominent - acid, but it went well with the pizza. Soft tannins on the finish - better after an hour

garnet. Nose had a hint of fruits and spices. Taste was OK, but significant acid on the finish. This is not uncommon with Italian reds, IMO. Better with pizza, but couldn't finish a glass without.

Deep red with brown edges. Lots of cherry Sangiovese fruit with a bit of chocolate in the background. The nose says Tuscan Sangiovese, Cabernet blend. Can't fool the punters with this one. Excellent.

I had purchased these upon release at reputable shop (Sam's) for a discounted price. The first bottle consumed just after purchase was not that great. Dim fruit, harsh bitter tannins and probably corked as it just got worse with air. Well, waited until now to try the second bottle. Same thing. Man, that sucks.

Plum and anise aromas, medium character on palate. 45% Sangiovese, 35% Merlot, 20% Cabernet. Subtle tannins just come through on finish. At its peak now.
