Big and Bold! Dark fruit for days, with an bit of spiced chocolate at the finish. A really good food wine that will probably be solid for a few more years. Dry pepper finish. Be sure to open for at least an hour before drinking.

This 50-50 blend of Primitivo and Negroamaro grapes is rich garnet in color and dense. Spicy aromas of dark fruit, figs, and tobacco on the nose. Rich flavors of blackberries, plums, figs and spicy black pepper on the palate. Firm structure, with controlled tannins. Lingering spicy finish. An excellent accompaniment for grilled meat or spicy tomato sauce-based dishes.

Deliciously bold with fruity notes, little tannins.

Really nice; hearty and flavorful. Great texture. At eight years old, I think it can easily hold up another eight. I hope Costco has more of it!

50/50 blend of primitivo and negroamaro that sees 22 mos. in French oak. This was a supermarket purchase for me, so not sure about provenance or if it's representative, but this seems a little cooked. Dense coloring with purplish ruby at the edges. Aromas of dark red fruits, tar, and floral. Medium body, acid, and finish, with flavors of dark red fruits, black tea, orange peel, and spices.

This wine is a real gem. I increased my rating by +1 since my last review. It was in a nice spot the last time I drank it in August 2016. It seems even better now and it is still developing. The Negroamaro and Primitivo blend from this producer seems perfect. You can clearly taste the bitter black from the Negroamaro and the jammy fruit from the Primitivo. The 2011 Conte Giangirolamo (50:50 blend of Negroamaro and Primitivo) from Tenute Girolamo in Puglia makes a very strong impression. It starts with an unusual, extra-heavy bottle with a plastic sleeve as label; it is striking and very well done, but over-the top! Then the wine, an exceptionally dark color, grabs attention. This wine is very good. Very smooth, balanced, harmonious, almost elegant. It is full bodied, but doesn't knock you over with power. I get baked cherries, blackberries, and spice.
