Still too young imo. Can smell this wine from feet away from the glass. Already throwing a crust. Deep inky dark fruits that coat the mouth. This will develop tertiary notes in 5-10 years but for me just proves these MossWood are 20 year plus to taste the finished product. Will try a 2005 soon.

Tasted this wine during the Moss Wood Online Tasting organised by Wine Exchange Asia. The event was led by Hugh Mugford from Moss Wood. Bright purple in colour. Deep ink, with aromatic blueberries, cassis, koshu jelly on the nose. On the palate the wine is layered and complex, with notes of ripe blackcurrant, plum, and red liquorice backed by graphite, fresh lead pencil, cedar, and tobacco. This wine is at least 10 years away from its drinking window. If you …

Not as good as in 2024 although still enjoyable. Deep garnet. Blackberry, flint, cedar, raisin & game. Full bodied, low/medium tannins. Longevity? Probably 2030, maybe a little longer.

NobleRottersSydney - West Australian reds (Glass Brasserie, Sydney) : {screwcap, 14%} [DavidM] Developing wine with plenty of plush, polish curranty fruit and a hint of vanilla. Very much black-fruited on the palate. Medium/full in weight, but always elegant and balanced, with medium acid and medium chalky tannins. Medium/long finish. Really excellent, no sign of falling over at all, and will likely still improve.

Medium deep ruby, nice nose with loads of blackberry and black currant. Same on the palate, loads of fruit but without the typical Aussie Blueberry compote. Nice acidity, still a bit tannic, should have decanted (PnP), but ready now with a decant. Has a good future.

Deep ruby red. Powerful ripe red & black fruit nose with violets, lots of polished oak spice and vanilla. No green notes, minimal pyrazines, but unmistakably Cabernet. The palate is full of dense black fruit, hefty oak, strong tannins and mouth watering acidity. Finishes long with lead pencil and cedar. Nowhere near ready to drink, 10 years before this starts to stretch its legs and will then go another 20. 29 months in French barriques, 16% new.

In a good place right now, with lots of room to get better. Medium bodied with ripe fruit showing blackberry, dark plum. Savoury notes coming from tobacco, green capsicum and black pepper. Fine but firm tannins. The acidity and the fruit dance along the length, swapping the lead position. I suspect that assuming I am patient enough, I would be writing similar notes in 20 years.

Almost 3 years since I last tasted this wine. Still some primary fruits but cedar, leather, forest floor also present. Continues to drink well although probably hasn’t improved. Excellent wine.

Unlike other Margaret River cabernets I’ve tasted. Big and ripe, while maintaining good acidity. Exceptional.

Deep colour, loaded with fruit and enjoyably elegant. Lovely ripeness, full, fleshy and fresh. I'm sure this will keep but it is already drinking ewell to my palate. 2nd day the aromas were a bit volatile and perhaps the alcohol showing a bit.

Good wine but found it just a bit boring, couldn’t get any real excitement. Well balanced with luscious fruit, gravelly tannins and a medium finish. Has all the hallmarks of nice Cabernet (blackberry, olive tapenade and hints of cedar) but perhaps just completely closed right now, thought it would give a bit more. Not sure if it just needs more time or just is what it is and won’t improve.

Deep ruby in colour, the lifted aromas are pure and fresh with clean notes of herb, iris and black currant. A touch of mint, bay leaf and sage add intrigue, as does some spicy but measured oak. Gorgeous entry, medium-bodied with a soft, smooth texture (has a sheen). There is a width to the mid-palate that displays sweet fruits, but this is tamed by bright, tingling acidity. The mid-palate is juicy and Eden with freshly picked blackcurrants with a few …

Dark inky purple. A bit restrained in the nose when opened but developed lovely dark fruit, blueberry aromas. Cedar, clove. Long palate, full mouth experience. Dark berry fruit, some slight bitter chocolate and coffee. Well balanced acid and tannin. A great drop.

Deep lush Cab, lovely fruity nose, blackberry plums on the pallate, very deep colour and a long finish, gave this a couple of hours decant, would like to taste a little less full on fruit but that is the style, nicely made wine with good balance and acidity.

12 Moss Wood. Pop and pour. Deep, opaque, colour. Very little sediment. Nose mute on opening. Full bodied on entry. Intense, rich predominantly red and some black fruit. Glides through some coffeed oak, in to a very long nori and tapenade finish. Tannins are ripe and in perfect harmony with the wine. This is very long, it just keeps on rolling with all of that torque like a freight train. It’s clearly in the outstanding zone, but still so dense, …

Deep garnet. Damsons, plums, figs, prunes, spice, liquorice nose/palate. Full bodied, medium acid, medium+ tannins. Long finish. 14% alcohol. Very good wine which I think will improve and last for 5-10 years. At least I hope so, first bottle of a case......

Drank at La Luna Melbourne before Covid stopped us, temporarily hopefully.. this wine continues to drink superbly at 40 years of age. Bottle was still in neck superb condition. Having drank several of these against the 1980 reserve version each time i consider this the better wine, despite the reserve being excellent as well. still full bodied, rich and lovely secondary earthy and dark fruit, mulberry flavors with perfect acid and tannin. Nothing beats old Oz Cabernet like Mossy although …

Took some time to get out of the blocks, a few hour decant did the trick. It opened up into a classy blend of red berries, cassis, fine tannins and smooth vanilla oak. Drinking nicely now, but will show a great deal better in several years. I don’t think you’re seeing the potential (or your money’s worth) at such a young age.

This wine has finally hit its stride. Tis a pity I've already drank most of them waiting for this moment to arrive. An absolutely beautiful expression of Margaret River Cab Sav.

Careful cellaring has paid dividends. This is a very Bordeaux style wine. Not overly complex on the palate but incredibly smooth.
