Polished, reliable, and immediately charming with red-fruited freshness and creamy texture. Easy to drink and well-balanced, but emotionally neutral and predictable. Always good, never memorable.

Love, love, love this wine. I can't imagine another NV Brut Rose being this good. Color. Bright salmon pink Nose. Cherries, white currants, raspberry, orange peel, bread dough Palate. Cranberries, strawberry, crisp acidity and lot is big mousse to enjoy. Flavors last for 30-45 seconds.

woah nice. instant appealing nose of freshly baked croissant. palate is really appealing mix of fine chardonnay lemon and mineral with pinot raspberry and strawberry. med acidity and mousse, med-long finish. a superior nv rose champs. lived in the memory days later. best NV rose champs we've had.

Fresh strawberries and cranberries with a light sprinkle of baking spice. Fresh acidity and a clean, lightly saline finish. Easy to drink and pleasurable. A good start for the holidays.

Early Birthday Celebration (Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons) : Offered as part of the wine-cellar tour. Haven't tasted this for ages. A clear step up from the Veuve. No better than it ought to be but...lovely definition, good acid and a yeasty breadth. Champagne of the evening...so far.

I normally don't buy rose anymore. More bdb or blends at the moment but this reminded me at little bit of a young Dom Perignon rosë?

Medium salmon colour, deeper than is the norm these days; wonderful fruit expression on the nose, spiced strawberry, peach and red apple, flowers and minerally freshness; silky and supple palate, gentle mousse, ripe but fresh acidity, nice volume; yeasty energy on the finish, good resonance and length. I have always recorded my tasting notes (21 in total) for Ruinart Brut under “R de Ruinart”, but since the maison does not refer to it under that name anymore, I will continue here. Classic style, toast and citrus (amalfi lemon, bergamot), smooth elegance, silky mousse, elegant and flowing finish with a lovely hint of spice. At wine bar Bubbles, Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam.

Reasonably good Champagne. Brioche, chalky acidity, yellow fruit and a rustic element I cannot quite put my finger on. Not my favourite Grand Marque Champagne, would rather go for Roederer 244.

Straw yellow. Elderflowers. Yellow plums. Nuts - almond. Breadiness. Very long. Nice richness. Fresh and all in balance. Very lovely.

Wagyu Dinner (La Maison J2) : Lot LANET. Copper pink color with a short mousse. Aromas of red berry, apple, biscuit and florals. Medium coarse bead. Red berry fruit, pear and a pleasant toasty element too. Nice, as usual, but rarely does it deliver at its price point. (R&R)

Tasted at RUINART. SO AWESOME. Color. Salmon pink. Nose. Strawberries. Watermelon, cardamom. It's very complex, yet very delicate. Palate. Strawberries, apple skins, tart acidity, a little tannin. Very easy to drink. Not long finishing like the brut.

Tasted at RUINART. So awesome. Color. Rich yellow. Nose. Apples, bread, figs. Palate. Nuts, baked apples, lemons. Persistent finish. So yummy and easy to drink. Not as crisp as the blanc de blanc.

Ruinart NV is 40–45% Pinot Noir, 10-15% Meunier and 40% Chardonnay. A restaurant wine so no degorgemont or other info, but I suspect some bottle age. Sadly for me a reminder that Grand Marque champagnes are losing their edge. Slightly raw and a tad uninteresting. I'd certainly prefer to drink Nyetimber NV at two-thirds of the price.

Beautiful with the golden glow of maturity.

Korean Dinner at Highland. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Surprisingly actually quite good this time. More than decent. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, reddish pink colour. Thin legs. Frothy bubbles. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of strawberry, red apples, cherry, saline stone minerality. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of strawberries, red apple, red cherry, salty saline stones minerality, light sweet spice. Long finish. Good quality house Rose …

Was a bit confectionery this time and almost lacking focus but not sure if it was a change in style or just randomness. Good crowd pleaser when the crowd is easily pleased. 88-90

P/well chilled. Dark salmon color. Tiny bubble stream but lacking effervesce. Good tasting and fruity. A bit flat compared to last bottle. $78 on-line.

Back home in London and perusing through the cellar, I stumbled upon this birthyear R de Ruinart - a wine I had no previous history consuming, but was certainly intrigued by. Dom Ruinart is regularly one of my favourite vintage Champagne experiences, which led me towards opening this bottle. No disgorgment date, but the cork seems to have been in the bottle for several years. Rich nose of citrus and yellow fruit, good depth. Rich in the mouth.

Da Niccolo (Nick's house) : Yellow apple, raw dough, pomelo and a touch of yellow plum. Baritone depth thanks to the age with a polished, attractive perfume. Vinous on the palate: a gentle mousse and a sense of ripe, balanced roundness.

1998 vintage

Pours a dehydrated yellow verging on copper. Fine mousse in the background, this is nutty and biscuity, with ripe yellow apple taking up the rear. After a hot bus on a hot day, a sip of this was just the ticket. A sense of ease and comfort here and a lovely start to a great evening.

From a half, bought in June 2018 (or ‘19). Too sweet and past peak with unsavoury tertiary notes.

From magnum. No detailed notes. I'm always surprised how nice the base cuvee is; not overly complex but really easy and enjoyable to drink. Some brioche notes, lemon, flinty/fire stone notes. 90-91

Scent of light nature, hazelnut, minerals. In the background you feel the classic Ruinart scent with roasted character. Taste of citrus, chalk, rather monotome. Has not a super great complexity or depth. May feel very watery and thin. A very very light type of champagne for being a 2009. One of the thinnest champagnes I ever tried. Has many years to go!

Buy some and safe it 2-3 years. It suits it a lot

Older bottling, now with some decent bottle age it actually starts to become fun. Drank during photosession so no formal notes.

A lesson in ageging and bottle formats. A friend brought an immaculately stored bottle he had for 15 years in a magnum and this was just incredible. It felt more like a prestige cuvee (which isn't to detract from the deliciousness of Ruinart) - rich, golden, and creamy, with boiled nuts, lemon curd, orange blossom, and baked nectarine. Perhaps just the slightest lightening of the mousse, but really no complaints. The bottle disappeared quickly.
