Finished the bottle started with Coravin. More stuffing and substance now....with the fruit there but also some nice tannins in the background. Notes of dried herbs and even some spice here too. Definitely a lot more interesting than first two glasses.

2 glasses by Coravin. Seemed a little anonymous and dilute. Not angular or tannic, just lacking a bit....perhaps a little cool from cellar? Drunk with ribeye steak and Bearnaise. The fruit was in the background, little in way of complexity. Pleasant enough, but not as good as some other vintages of this. Will see how the rest of the bottle is in due course.

Rustic, quite textured freeze-dried coffee and quite rugged fruit. I liked it, it's characterful and textured.

Highly structured so presents as young but lacks a balance of fruit for the long haul. Great acidity making it highly food friendly with fatty meat.

Good to go now. Med body, blackberry & raspberry fruit, decent concentration. Consistent with other '17 Rhone I've had in that there are some slightly drying, grainy tannins in there which may or may not resolve before the fruit starts to fall away. W/beef bourguignon, enough structure to cut through. Good mid-weeker, GV @ c. £16 DP.

Lovely final bottle of 12. Consumed much too early really. Savoury notes in tune with the fruit. Tannins evident but nicely integrated. Smooth and silky.edi plus finish.

This medium-to-deep ruby wine is comprised of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah and 15% Mourvèdre, aged for 24 months in a combination of stainless steel and concrete. Ordered from a restaurant's list, it was popped, poured and serially tasted over approximately two hours, showing best after the first hour of air. On the nose, it offers an array of red and black bramble fruits that are accented with Provençal herbs, white pepper, cocoa, tobacco and dried earth. Medium-bodied, fresh, seamlessly alcoholic …

Absolutely fine, and good value, not particularly memorable. Some nice dry roast coffee, dark fruits. Perfectly all right for a weeknight pnp.

Bottle 10 of 12. Savoury notes to the forefront. Fruit is still evident. Some tannic structure. This bottle is very much to my liking but I suspect there has been some bottle variation over the last 3 or 4 bottles. Still good value.

Half bottle bought as a tester for 6 in reserves. Lighter, more red fruited than might have been expected, some savoury notes. Might leave the rest for a while longer.

Underwhelmed. Black fruit, some spice, but this seemed lacking in intensity, length and complexity. Not tasted under ideal conditions, but I think this has closed down and I will not tackle my remaining bottles for another 2/3 years.

Finished bottle previously Coravined. Really lovely, smoother than initial two glasses. Excellent with steak.

Two glasses by Coravin. Quite lively, good balance already, with no harsh edges, may well improve more but a nice wine just now.

Bottle 7 of 12. Much improved on last bottle. Maybe some bottle variation. This was back to its best. Fruit, French countryside and dusty smoke. Very good

This is in great form. A whiff of eucalyptus, generous blackberry and redcurrant flavours, clove and pepper, nicely balanced with a decent finish. Tannins are starting to integrate nicely.

Drinking beautifully now. Ripe fruit with herbs in the background. Some medicinal notes on first opening. These disappear over time. Tannins are evident but nicely integrated. Suggest that an hour decant would be beneficial.

Upping this a point to pull the CT a average slightly. It’s definitely a 92 - 93 wine. Little story. Three years ago I ran across this beauty in a Carrefour in Martinique, a 2015, and thoroughly loved the bottle. I was surprised to see a favorite importer shipping this same producer and snatched up a case. This time it was a LOT more expensive than the 14 Euro I paid before. (Man, did I love Carrefour — and the …

Medium depth of colour, intense quality red fruit. Tannic and spiced - young but improved with 3 hour decanting. Lovely wine to sit and swirl, especially whilst listening to the guy who grew the grapes talk about his methods. A solid Gigondas. Paired it with the wrong food, hard for a vegetarian dish to compete here.

In my bottle, the fruit had begun to fade and nothing on the nose. I adore Gigondas and Sarrasine is amongst my favourites. To my taste a disappointment, but there again it may have been a marginally faulty bottle.

Really dark garnet red. Nose of rich dark fruits (damson, prunes), tobacco, leather and some pepper underneath. Medium-full bodied: peppery, softened tannins, edge of drier fruits (sloes, elderberry); big flavour, good length, perhaps not as complex and layered as might be expected.

Very nice Gigondas, very "clear" flavors. Nice, elegant back end flavor rush. I like this a lot, especially for the price. No boquet and lack of complexity keep this from scoring higher.

From magnum. Surprisingly fresh and structured for a warm year in Southern Rhone - still concentrated and dense, but with lovely acidity, grippy tannins, rustic in a good way. The alcohol is very well integrated. Excellent QPR. 90-92

Sometimes friends give good bottles; this was one. Starting a bit shy, a bit overripe, but than exploding with aeration into a ripe and voluptuous style, juicy, creamy, round, but not polished, firm but not hefty, in short: old-fashioned no-nonsense Rhône.

Keeping this in the cellar until now has pleasantly smoothed this little jewel out. Not much nose at first, but tannin is very smooth with pleasant, deep berry flavors that linger. Glad more bottles in the cellar and agree with the drinking window going easily out to 2019.
