The cork fell apart when the sommelier tried opening the bottle at the restaurant! Bottle needed to breathe for an hour before it opened up and did get better over time. The bottle was past its prime but was still good.

Green pepper dominate. Wine had just been held a few years too long.

This wine definitely has a little life left in it, although after all this time, it still tastes a bit green. Pretty, dark purple. I decanted. First few sips showed that it still had tannins, with some simple tart berries, earth, and oak. As it opens, the oak and earth have subsided, but the fruit remains simple and in the background. Not a bad wine, but a bit disappointing.

Solid with nice fruit and all the greeness has faded away. The wine is mouthfilling with sweet dark berries and toasted coffee notes. I would drink now and over the next year. The only drawback is that the wine is a little simple and basic.

Very good at this stage ... I agree with some previous posts that this wine was a little green and light in its youth but it has really improved. Classic velvety Stag's Leap grip, a nice lightly jammy core of blackberry with nice coffee bean (cocoa) elements. Great to drink now.

It wasn't as bad or as green as I feared it would be. It turned out to be OK.

Probably peaking or just past its prime ... did not seem quite as fresh as when I last tasted it in February. However, this wine still is rewarding for its supple texture and juicy fruit style. There may have been a hint of TCA, however.

The bad news is the Baldacci's first vintage was green and underwhelming. The good news is that every vintage since 2000 has been outstanding. Dont know if this just needs years in a cellar or needs to be gifted quickly.

Expected more from a Sags Leap district wine. This was very green initially. After a while it was better, but I was still underwhelmed.

The aromas and flavors of ripe black cherry, blackberry are accented by cedar mint and leather. Inaugural vintage of this wine, a blend of 91% Cab Sauvignon, 9% Cab Franc.

Green and vegetal on opening, VERY subtle (meaning almost imperceptible) black cherry tones as the wine opened a crack, but then not much more. Disappointing by any measure and totally uncharacteristic flatness for a Stag's Leap wine. In a poor year, a very poor example.
