Root:1 [The Original Ungrafted] Heritage Red

I’m not a fan of this wine, but it wasn’t quite as bad as I was expecting. It was light, flat (no depth or complexity), and very simple. It did have a very nice, strong fruit-forward flavor of red cherries (not black), and tart blackberries. It carried a very synthetic nose, but was not offensive in taste in any way. Very fruity and a little tart. Tastes literally like fermented Welch’s grape juice. Virtually no tannins. This won’t really age. …

Am I drinking the same wine as other reviewers? I find the nose to be dark berries, the flavor to be fruit forward with balanced tannins and acidity. The finish is light. Served with cheese and crackers. I prefer a more complex wine with my entree, but this was very enjoyable.

Deep purple color, overwhelming alcohol on the nose. A few red berries on the tongue, but mostly tannins and alcohol. Dry. After breathing, smell of gunpowder almost. Overpowering alocohol, not enjoyable.

Very disappointing. Flat and unappealing.
