Ten Years On - 2015 Meritage/Bordeaux Red Tasting (Canoehead Central) : One of two BC red blends in a broader 2015 Meritage/Bordeaux Red Tasting. Opened 1-2 hours prior to tasting. What's there to add? Lariana Fifteen is a knockout. An aromatic delight only surpassed by a broad palate of rich ripe dark red fruits and a backup band of sage, liquorice, dark chocolate and medjul dates. Medium plus body and well balanced. Gave a Noble Ridge Kings Ransom a worthy …

Pnpd @ Nanoose Bay Cafe (BYO). Old world skew with green bell pepper muscling through the dark red fruit and a slight grippiness to the tannins. Lost the cocktail award to a 2015 Portfolio but was hands down the wine to pair with Sunday Prime Rib Dinner. Thanks KJ!

Delicious. Medium deep purple red, some staining. Big black and blue fruit nose, almost smells Aussie. Some dried herb too. Juicy, fresh, balanced palate, on the soft side, but enough acidity and tannin to hold it all together. Loads of ripe fruit. Really moreish. If I had more, which I really wish I did, I would drink in the next year or two, this is juicy and fun, ready to go, and I can't see it being any more pleasurable …

Old World vs New World: Merlot & Cab Sauv on Blueback Drive (Vancouver Island) : Part of a Cabernet Sauvignon or CS-dominant blend blind tasting of old world vs new world. Pronounced nose of sweet red fruit (wild strawberry, black raspberry, cherry tart) as well as olive, cocoa, and earthiness; Very well balanced; considered so easy to drink by some tasters. Two of twelve tasters preferred this wine the most for the flight. In fact, many said this was their …

Showing some aging notes so in its drinking window but somewhat indifferent overall.

Still drinking well but it may be at or slightly past peak. Some vanilla and oak on the finish, very high alcohol is a bit overwhelming.

Solid wine. Still in primary fruit phase, although the fruit is starting to dry out a bit. Medium acidity, medium acidity. Mellow smooth dusty tannins that are in the background.

Lariana "Thirteen" to "Eighteen" Vertical, and some BC Rosés : Had as part of a "Thirteen" to "Eighteen" vertical (I didn't have the foresight to keep any "Twelve"). Nicest colour – deep dark red. Hint of green pepper notes. Big alcohol. Similar in style to an Orin Swift wine. A solid wine, but the alcohol overwhelms and not as complex a finish as the Sixteen or Thirteen. 10 tasters - Ranked 4 of 6.

2015 Best of BC Bordeaux Blends : 63% CS, 20% Syrah, 17% Carm. Dark vibrant crimson colour. Bright luscious nose. Fruits on the palette - cherry, blackberry, and probably some cassis but I don't actually know what cassis tastes like. The Carm brings some subtle greenness. Relatively short finish. Soft tannins, likely nearing its peak. On the first date, you think you want to marry it - after a few more hours with it, you're not as sure.

Dark ruby in colour with aromas of a distinct herbal note, sweet black fruit, crushed gravel & subtle oak. On the palate, medium to full bodied tart black fruit, blackberry, cassis, blueberry, subtle notes of herbal & oak with medium to high acidity & high soft tannins. Finish is long to spice/pepper & this is lovely wine that could probably benefit from more cellar time. Definitely tasted better night #2, more cellar time recommended.

Dark cherries, hints of oak, a bit of a huh to it in the entry but a delightful finish. Day 2 - more mellow, fruit shining through - Licorice and cherry. Pretty darn good for a BC blend.

Lots of dark red fruit on the nose (cherry, berries, cassis) with some smoke and leather. Structured but balance tannins and acid. Med-long finish. Great bottle of wine - wish I had more than one...

Big cherry notes, long finish. A bit over oaked but has come together exceptionally well in the last year - delicious, buy some more if you can find it!

I'm sorry but I don't see what others see in this bottle. It was flat, with little to no acidity, the tannic structure had collapsed and what was left was a flabby, run of the mill, peppery blueberry jam Okanagan Cab Sauv. Have another bottle that I will leave for a while longer to see if (hopefully) it was just in a strange place in its maturation.

Yea wow this is very nice! So much going on it seems. Definitely dark cherries. Berries. Blackberry. Hint of vanilla and spice. Maybe some smokiness. Great structure and mouthfeel. Long finish. Silky smooth. We were very impressed. Glad we have another to try! Superb! Had with crackers/cheese/cured meats

Similar to previous TN but really believe the Carmenere is what stitched this wine together and gives it the depth and length.

Vibrant purple/red but not inky. Aromas of cassis, herbs and spices. Freshness, greenness, red berries as well. Flavours repeat on aromas …. tannins are present but not strong, just dusty. Overall nice acidity. More ripeness of fruit then tanginess. Good time to drink this wine as I'm not sure what age will bring.

Seriously good red. Senka Tennant is a genius with South Okanagan reds (her Naramata/TerraVista whites are stellar as well). Great picking windows. Vibrant fruit, riper tannins, good acidity. Always a little patience required with Lariana Bordeaux blend but usually entering the drinking window 4-ish years after vintage year. The Fifteen is marvellous. Judicious oak treatment and careful considerate blending. Great concentration and length. Well done.
