Blind tasted. Obviously New World, lots of dark fruit, oak notes. Cinnamon, vanilla, black cherry, raspberry, tobacco, chocolate, blackberry, baking spice. Mod plus alcohol, moderate tannin, acidity. Incorrectly guessed WA Syrah, probably overthought it. Wine showed better than last time I've had it.

Blackish purple core with thin violet rim; very dark fruit, blackberry, ash, pent up classic Malbec; very dark and tannic on the palate, a little red apple skin, lower acid, oak treatment is almost invisible; good.

Wanted to like this more and still will add to cellar for a taste in a few years. The prior notes with description are on parr with mine. A little to much oak and less so fruit for me to enjoy further. So, nose is light on the brooding fruit and more smokey/ash/oak. Palate is still in favour of the smokey quality and fruit is Tart (T) plum/blackberry. Leather quality in there. Tannin is rough and coating. This needs some …

Brooding, blackberry and asphalt-tinged nose, with a hint of vanilla. The oak takes over a bit on the palate, with waxy, vanilla flavors outpacing the tart blackberry fruit. Mouthfeel is lush and very appealing; if the oak was better integrated, this would hit 90 easily - as it is, still a nice enough bottle for $18.
