A stellar showing, with rich red fruit notes held well in check by the fine acidity. Lush but no heat showing, and the persistence of the finish was remarkable. Quite the outperformance of our expectations.

Decanted 1 hour. Varietally correct Zinfandel. Super tasty by itself and with a blue cheese burger. Not a complex Zin but very enjoyable. Good balance of tannin fruit but probably best to drink up if you have them by 2020.

A true to form Zinfandel. Lots of deep, dark fruit. A touch of pepper. Flavorful and quality fruit driven. It's not complex, it's just tasty.

Decanted 1.5 hr. Flat tastes of dark fruits & spices. Disappointing. Nothing like the exciting wine we had on 9/25/15. Will call it a flawed bottle. A 75 if grading it.

Just a wonderful balanced zinfandel which is worth finding. Fruit and tannin were very balanced and I thought that of the (3) which I had in this order, (14 Dirt Worshipper-87, 14' Greanche-89, 14' zinfandel-92) that this was the best one.

Decanted Showing aromas of dark cherry, jammy raspberry and strawberry notes that mix with citrus oil, baking spices, vanilla, licorice snaps, wild flower, herbs and briar. The palate shows rich flavors and creamy almost fleshy textures. Flavors show the cooked and jammy fruit flavors of cherry, strawberry and raspberry that are followed by vanilla, cardamom, baking spice, blood orange, star anise and briar. Soft and round, but laking both density on the almost "milky" mid-palate and complexity. The warm finish …

I cannot write a better note the that of CT member R4cali. They are quite accurate with the small addition of ....... "strawberry is dominant and quite tremendous as it is strong and lingering for over 30 seconds. "

A gem from what I agree is an under-rated winery. This is a delightful well-balanced zin without an "in your face" fruit. Elegantly restrained and lingering finish. Enjoyed with a pork roast/fennel/apple cider/honey dish compliments of Ina Garten.

Drank over 2 days. Huge both days - dark fruit and alcohol and an upright core. This wine dances on the palette with blackberry and tannin and a long peppery finish. Opened it too young, but screw it. Enjoyed it thoroughly. #noregrets

Don't know what happened with this bottle but not like the first. Sweet blueberry pie, baking spice and oak on the nose, carries through with good body and a good amount of tannin. Medium-full mouthfeel. Decent wine but poor QPR with this bottle.

Long decant given (Over 3 hours) Aromas of medium+ intensity. Almost reminiscent of a young Priorat or Monsant. Heavily laced with mineral, slate and graphite, followed by spicy white pepper, wild strawberry, raspberry, bramble and fig. Light ancillary scents of earth, preserves and mineral. The palate is medium/ medium-plus bodied with zesty acidity and high minerality. Graphite and slate mix with flavors of strawberry and raspberry jam. White pepper, cinnamon, bramble concrete and sour cherry. The finish linger with grippy …

What an excellent surprise how well this 10 year old Zinfandel aged! Hedonistically full of fruit, thick, with good balance. One might expect a 10 year old fruit-laden Zin to be over the hill, but after an hour of airing out, this was a very special Zin. Good intensity, complexity, and body, heavy dark fruit, up front, but not over the top. Drink soon.

As usual from Denner, a classy and refined version of this varietal, medium-dense in garnet/purple color, with pretty red and black fruit aromas, showing wild berry flavors of cherry/boysenberry, some vanilla and oak, and a smooth tannic structure with a long, tasty finish. No evidence of the jamminess or baked fruit so typical of other producers.

Medium-dark in ruby-garnet color, with rich aromas of wild cherry and wild berries, which are carried to palate along with some judicious vanilla and oak notes to result in a very well-balanced, and tasty version of Zinfandel. Not jammy or in-your-face in any way, but rich and tasty and still food-friendly. Try this with a grilled bone-in pork loin chop.

Ahh, love Denner Zins, because well, Denner Zins are f'ing amazing and don't taste like your ridiculous Cali Zin profile. Nose is pomegranate, cherry, rhubarb and bay leaf. Mid palate is medium bodied yet mouthcoating, finish is a repeat of the nose but with (again very Denner characteristic) Orange Julius. Superb. James Laube has his head screwed on backward. -- Consumed at at cellar temp: 60°-65° F. Friends don't let friends drink red wine at room temp!

Sweet, ripe fruits scents with a deep, dark ruby color this Pas Robles Zin still has enjoyable features and tastes. Black raspberry leads the way followed by wild strawberry and hints of ground cinnamon. A touch of blueberry is reflected at midpalate along with layers of licorice and smashed red berries. A drying, but basic finish. This is past prime and was lacking a solid structure and balance. Super Bowl Sunday - Drink now

The smell of this zin is quite pleasant. Opening it up and letting it breath brings forward a nice aroma of berries mixed with some earthiness. Drinking it though is a completely different experience. It is very fruity - Cassis-like! The problem with this bottle is that it has too much alcohol. 16% is a lot for a wine. The trend over the last few years has been towards heavier wines with more alcohol. I am not a fan of …

The alcoholic heat on this wine is palpable. Some may find this style of wine enjoyable, but I am not such a big fan. This is very fruit forward and to my mind the winemaker was a bit heavy handed in trying to bring in big chocolate essence with the oak aging. Although it was a zin, the small % of syrah colored this wine to a significant degree. Label this wine very big, but too sweet; chewy, but difficult …

Very happy with this wine. I had tasted it at the winery and thought it was an ok over priced Zin. I was given it as a gift. This wine was 10x better with some aging. I also served it a little bit cold as I pulled it out of the wine fridge only 30 minutes prior- I think that kept the Alc. low. The nose was of very ripe blackberries. Tasted of red fruit and berries- a reduction sauce …

Deep garnet color. Pretty hot at initial opening, so let breathe for 40 minutes and most of the initial heat blew off, which made for a much better wine. Rich stoney fruits with some tannic brush fruits (raspberry, boysenberry). Great pepper with a hot finish.

Opaque purple in color. Smells of boysenberries and cherry kirsch. Blackberry jam, mocha and spearmint on the palate. Mouthwatering acidity and the rich vibrant fruit tame the 16% alcohol. Nice French oak treatment that could use some more time to properly integrate and become less distracting. Long, fruit forward finish that has some depth and complexity. Blackberry jam, gravel, smoke, dark chocolate and a floral edge. Very ripe but at the same time fresh and lively. The 16% alcohol is well hidden. Just a light coating of tannin suggests a year of cellaring will improve this one. A very pleasant surprise - reminds me of a Carlisle!
