My second bottle, and the first in five years, this is just singing right now and should drink well for another 8-10 years. This is another "Mid-Atlantic" Chianti Classico, but this one is a real success, with just enough weight, extraction and sweetness to please Napa / Bordeaux lovers and yet retaining lots of classic, traditional Chianti structure, acidity and aromatics. At 14.5% it's a bit more than the ideal classic CC, but it's worth it. Outstanding QPR.

For $15 it has some nice complexity. Violets, sour cherry, cedar. It falls apart as it warms and opens to air showing more of an alcohol finish.

Wow! This wine has developed into a great steak wine. Silk smooth and balanced as a rock. A lot of ash, coffe and leather. Pairs so well with proteins. Loved it!

Opened this about six hours ago. Has evolved a bit since then, but not as much as I'd have hoped. Rather dark for a Chianti, with a touch of amber at the rim, surprisingly enough. Fairly classic Sangiovese fruit in the nose, with dark cherry aromas. Same thing in the mouth; good fruit that has softened but is still fairly crisp. Still, it is young. For optimum drinking, I'd probably hold off for another 3-5 years. At Costco's $15 price …

Impulse Purchase @ Costco 14.5% abv - $15 Served (1 1/2 hour decant) with Spaghetti & Meatballs, Garlic Bread and Caprese Salad. Clear ruby red on the pour. Raspberry, cherry and red fruit on the nose. Palate of red raspberry and some cherry, with some spiceness of nutmeg & cardamom. Medium-bodied, but seemed rather 'thin.' Ample acidity and strong tannins. Astringent finish. Seemed a little harsh the next day.

Quite secondary now. Goes best with food. Paired well with fresh mushroom.

Classic Chianti through and through, except for more fruit. Great QPR. This was well done.

Garnet color. Medium acid, M+ fruit.. pretty fruit forward with a berry vibe. Definite smoky undertones that are pronounced. M+ tannin. High persistence. Alcohol is well integrated. Too fruit forward for me. Has an artificial veneer to it.

Medium cherry red color. Pretty tight and closed-down on the nose, but some raspberry and cherry fruit, cedar, and rose petals. Very well structured on the palate, with ripe plummy fruit, cedar, and spice. It opens up with air, taking on a chocolatey, espresso depth that adds a nice bit of complexity. Reliably a nice, good-value bottle.

Brunello and Ragu (Home) : Picked up on the night by a friend from a local store, and showed very nicely. 15% but only a trace of heat on the finish, enjoyable dark fruit, good acidity, slightly earthy and sauvage.

A pleasant surprise. Opened it with spaghetti, and slightly regretted not saving it for a higher-end meal.

It's a delicate thing. Didn't really hold up well in the fridge after decant. I think this is a real wine, which is why it dropped so much with stress. I still drank it. Ha. That's the sort of guy I am. I honor the winemaker even in fridge stale state.

Closet temperature spiked to over 95 degrees! Killed this wine! Aw. Cooked Chianti is still good, but it's lost all of its excellence. These damned Peninsula apartments don't insulate the ceiling to roof and don't have AC. Crud.

Surprisingly decent. Consistent with Chianti profile from a ripe vintage. Forward in fruit but with plenty of earthy balance. Maybe this has a lot to do with expectations. Purchased this in Aspen in a shop where all wine prices were ridiculous and all newer vintages. Wanting something for pasta and not wanting to spend 2x normal retail for a wine nowhere near ready. This turned out to be a solid choice. Glad I didn't give into temptation for something more …

Under $20 beauty! Costco purchase for $15. (Just bought 4 more bottles.) Holy goodness for under $20! Spicy tars are so endearing. I could drink this all night. Put it on tap. I don't wanna know how many bottles I've finished, just keep this coming! Gorgeous nose of black fruit, tars, spices, herbs complexities beyond the human nose. Palate of wows over and over each sips is just a wow after wow, black fruit and spicy tar with earthen goodness …

A touch of dark cherry fruit to it. Maybe a touch of dark chocolate. That's taste if a touch intense but well done.

Popped and poured. Tart black fruit aroma with a bit of dirt. Dusty cherry fruit up front, leathery and drying finish. Young, a bit tight, firm backbone, good potential. Great QPR.

Pretty good for a "run of the mill" Chianti - the more I drink wines from 2016 in Chianti, the more I become convinced that this is one of those rare vintages where a rising tide lifted all boats. Not overly complex, but pretty easy & delicious going down, with nice typicity for a Chianti.

Infanticide. Should be consumed 2021-2035. Opened up about two hours after decanting. Dense, full-bodied CC with great Sangiovese character and cherry. Excellent structure, with firm tannins showing up with air. Needs a meal, doesn't work without food. There are two ways to achieve outstanding Chianti Classico, either through ethereal and complex aromatics or though a full-bodied, savory approach; this is the second. Outstanding QPR.

Just a touch rustic on the nose, esp. after 2-3 hrs of air (the last glass or two). Otherwise, a good value.

This is good, albeit not overly complex. Nice "Chianti" nose. I just had a glass of the '16 Poggerino Bugialla Riserva, which is unfortunate for this wine, as they don't run in the same division. But this is good for what it is.

Drank at Wolfgang Puck in AC for $56, dense, chewy, good fruit with lots of smooth tannins, good structure and became more balanced as it opened up, needs time, would drink again, drank with chinese duck.

Lovely dark inky plummy and dark cherry fruit along with wood (including a hint of cedar), dried leaf/undergrowth and gentle spice. Medium bodied, with lovely firm drying tannins, freshness, flavours as per the nose. Good classic Chianti, albiet a darker-fruited style - get again. A bit less dark on day two, though

That smells classically Tuscan. A beautiful pure sangiovese note leaning just a hair touch on the darker side. But not like Berendega. And that is lively and pure on the palate too. That is great stuff. In Castellare. Bigger botti barrels, Sloveninena and French.
