Domaine la Fourmente Côtes du Rhône

Dull garnet red. Peppery rose petal/geranium leaf, beef stock, nose. In the mouth a slightly tinny (metallic) edge with sharp tannins. however it's a lot smoother than it was 2 years ago. An almost almond flavour with tart black fruit: sloes, elderberry. Lingers.

A very pleasant simple CdR at its peak right now.

Clearly a bit young, but there is good pepper that stands up well to a bistro classic like roasted-garlic-and-spinach soup.
