Cà Nova Ghemme

Nebbiolo night on 17 May 2018 (Winil, Moscow) : 92/100 A Magnum of young Ghemme 2003. Dark berries, menthol, lacquer paint. Tannin binds the tip of the tongue, not woody, not overwhelming, but quite and quite forceful. I’d love to have another go at it after 10 years. Чувствуется советский холодок. Slightly darker than other Ghemme wines recently tasted, but lighter hued than the more southern Nebbiolo appellations. There's a band of orange brown at the rim indicating some age. On the nose I've found Ghemme to show 'Tar and Roses' to a greater degree than Barbaresco/Barolo and this wine certainly shows those aromas clearly. There's also a hint of earth in support as well as cherry & almond. On the palate, light on it's feet with bright acidity and still-grippy …
