Bernard Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux Vieilles Vignes

Layers of red fruit. Cran-raspberry. Touch of orange peel. A hint of gamey/herbal note.

Nice Gevery villages with some age. Good red fruit and decent depth and concentration. Solid acidity. Enjoyable red Burgundy.

Unfortunately saw the label before it was served, so couldn’t guess it blind. Tidy fragrant of sweet juicy red berries, black cherry and lots of new oak spices. Dugat used more stems in 2006 than in 2007 because the stems were riper, which makes his 2006 more lifted and vibrant compared to his 2007 (which is usually a charming vintage especially to drink now). The wine shows a dark almost violet color with dark fruits, violet and earth on the nose. The palate is medium bodied and similar to the nose but with more dark fruits, floral notes and cool earth. This is a very nice wine but slightly past its peek. When drunk 2 years ago the fruit was more pronounced and it was more succulent and sophisticated on the palate. This a nice complete, balanced wine but a bit thin in the end and not spectacular for a village level wine. I suppose it could be shut down, but right now, if you don't focus on the name on the label, you will come to the unavoidable conclusion that you can do better for the price.

Vibrant red. Somewhat muted, dark cherry and hint of pip. A little dilute mouthfeel but flavours are in the typical dark cherry and plum spectrum. Smooth middle, fine tannins, shortish finish. Nice flavours, easy drinking.

Very good nearly excellent, very rich fruit with soft round tannins - quite kirche like with good acid and nice herbal notes - perhaps a slightly harsh finish and slightly clumsy let it done slightly

Fantastic wine for a village-level wine, could easily pass for a 1er cru or better. Concentrated dark fruit with nice mid-palate and long finish.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL) : Concentrated blackberry aromas with modest spice. Very good concentration and density on palate, with spice and structure quite prominent on the powerful finish. I served this as a blind Pinot Noir to the group and everybody easily identified this as Burgundy. Very fresh black cherry fruit. All primary, but a bit simple and short. A bit too much cherry cola for my preference, but still quite nice for a Villages level wine.

Nice nose of red fruit and coffee. Palate had good fruit and sous bois. Enjoyable.

Dark ruby color. Nose of black cherry, spice, earth, oak. Similar on the palate with well-balanced tannins. Very tight and young but with some hours of decanting it opened and was very enjoyable. The depth for a village level wine was astounding.
