Poderi Luigi Einaudi Piemonte Barbera

Deep Garnet color. Bold, deep and spicy aromas of dark cherries and chocolate, wet gravel, and lavender. Lively on the palate, dark cherries on entry, with round tannins providing just enough structure. Syrupy feel, with a satin texture. The finish is bright acid and dark fruit, a great contrast, the length is reasonable. Very polished, drinking well right now but probably won't hold much longer.

Allowed to aerate for 2 hours in decanter prior to drinking. Deep Garnet color, pronounced and very satisfying oak aromas along with plum and bitter chocolate. Was a bit worried about the oak being overpowering on the palette, but it fades nicely, leaving you with dark plum, lively acid and round tannins in a a medium body. The medium finish is dominated by the acid, slightly marred by the noticeable presence of alcohol. But overall it's a polished, high QPR …

Lots of bright red fruit, high acid, low tannin. Med body, flat finish. Not bad, would like to try more of the varietal.

Allowed to breathe, which opened it up both aromatically and on the palette. Deep purple color. Aromas of dark fruit, especially blueberry. Medium body with the same dark fruit flavors. Tannins and acid under control. Decent for the price.
