Three hour decant, lighter color in the glass, few legs. The bouquet is unique, very herbal and rubbery, hard to describe. The palate is likewise a standalone experience, a slight cherry taste with a minty background to it, a touch of sage, reasonable acidity and no tannins to speak of. With a medium length finish on it this was a very odd drinking experience, if you are into trying something out of the ordinary this is it.

See previous note, but a great version of an easy drinking Cesanese

Damianoi Ciolli is the best producer in Lazio of Cesanese. Silene is his entry level wine. I was introduced to his wines while dining at Roscioli in Rome. This is a beautiful red fruited wine with a hint of licorice on the finish with herbs and faint floral component with ample minerality and acidity. This wine pairs perfectly with classic Roman pasta such as carbonara and cacio e pepe.

Tasted Blind. No formal notes. At first, this appeared to me as Beaujolais meets Trousseau. It was fun to try and obviously hard to pin out blind. Overall, ok wine. Not very complex but balanced. Maybe a little boring but I may be a little harsh here.
