Whitcraft Winery Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard N Block

Here it is folks, my first three digit CT score. Not from my beloved Bordeaux. Not an ancient Barolo or an obscenely priced Burg. Hat's off to the dearly departed Chris Whitcraft. I've had this wine two other times. Once flawed and once really good, but not like this. This was one of eight bottles among world class selections, and it ran away with it as WOTN. This ‘97 Whitcraft N Block slayed. Fruit. Acid. Age. It lead with roasted strawberry and dark plum, had loads of beach tar and chaparral, spearmint, and grilled blood orange. Feral, herbal, and sexy.

Beautiful light red, translucent color. TCA on the nose - bummer. Palate seemed unaffected, as I'm not all that sensitive to TCA. There was strawberry, cherry, potpourri, and sage. I'd give this a 92, but I'll give a better note on another bottle that has no flaws.
