Monthly Tasting Group HWS #115; Malbec Worldwide (By SB) : Mature bouquet with good red fruits, some rust, herbs and autumn impressions. On the palate firm red fruit acidity, some licorice, tea and autumn again. Overall a fairly elegant wine with juicy acidity, still ok tannin and some bitterness. Drink soon.

Gosh, this is only 18 years old and already the tannins are starting to soften! A little. Okay, so maybe I don't really "get" Cahors. There is some fruit in there, behind the moisture-sucking tannins. But mostly this is just...tannin. Big, dark, tannin.

Rather harsh and weedy tasting. Seems like all vintages of this taste the same.

Dark fruit, still a bit tannic though not the tannic monster of some Cahors. Sweeter blackberry fruit notes, some clay-ey earth and leather. A little low-acid for my tastes, but good wine and good match with cassoulet
