Guy Breton Morgon

Good as it ever was

From the domaine's oldest vines in the climat 'Les Charmes,' including 120-year-old vines. 100% whole-cluster fermentation. Used DRC barrels for the vinification. Very 'alive' on the nose and freshness from the stems with mineral character. Taste like right at the boundary between conventional/natural, nothing funkiness here. Light and fragrant than other average Morgon. A bit expensive.

Lush and deep fruited. Acids leaning a bit grapefruit and peel provide a nice structure. Enjoyed.

Pure, easy, delicious

Translucent ruby; initially high-tone, quickly blew off, redcurrant/ cranberry on edge of natural spectrum; light bodied, has a 'Morgon' motif, red fruits peek out through lifted acidity; lively finish, long. Quirky. Good accompaniment to roasted gammon.

Light red, not 100 % clear. Fresh cherry like aromas. Juicy with pronounced acidity and little tannins. Concentrated. Seems even a bit extracted. Or, maybe the dry solids content is just very high. I guess the wine will improve with 5 more years in the cellar.

I generally like Guy Breton's Morgon, however the last 2 bottles i have opened have been corked which is unusual for such a young wine. I have returned the rest out of frustration.

This wine slaps. Beautiful hue that makes you want to dive right in. Fruit in the front, acidity in the back but just the right amount for me. Smooth & easy to drink. Will drink again my friends.

Definitely needs more time. Will try next bottle in a year.

Tasted Blind A: Pale ruby with a little haze and a touch of blue N: Medium nose of medicinal, candied red cherry, bruised banana, dried herb, potting soil P: Dry, medium acidity, medium (+) tannin, medium alcohol, full body, medium (+) intensity and medium (+) finish C: The carbonic maceration feels over the top here. Tasted blind. Slightly cloudy, pale ruby with a purple hue. Med nose of candied red cherry, cranberry, pomegranate, medicinal herbs, hibiscus tea, earth. No detectable new oak. Definite notes of whole cluster fermentation including bubblegum, stems, watermelon. Dry, with med (+) acidity, med tannin, med alcohol (13%). Med (+) body, with med to med (+) intensity and length. Very primary, lacking in complexity and acidity. So fruit forward and lacking in acidity that you'd almost think there was some RS. Others seemed to have like this much more... maybe I bought a bad bottle? Overall not something I would buy again - much better wines in this price range.

Great bottle. On the lighter and more delicate end of the spectrum. Hold some for a bit
