Starting to show some tertiary notes, but still good.

Shared a bottle over a light lunch in Florence at Enoteca Pitti Gola across from the Pitti Palace. What a treat to try a Chianti Classico Riserva in it's prime. Beautiful ruby in color with just slight bricking at the edge. This opened nicely over time in the glass. Bright red cherry and some slight earthy funk on the nose and palate. It was medium body and somewhat silky with some nice weight but no firm tannin. A very good …

A nice garnet color, still alive, a very nice nose of plum, cherry, leather, some herbs. On the palate is very similar to the nose, but with a clear sweetness, while light velvety tannins appear more after few hours after the opening, with a nice acidity. The finish is quite long and pleasant.

Janselijn Wines & Verkerk Wines Burgundy v. Tuscany Tasting (Restaurant The Lobby Fizeaustraat, Hotel V, Amsterdam, NL) : Trade tasting, brief note. This is a beautiful wine, complete, elegant in an unpolished way, lovely freshness and tannic grip, pure and expressive, good resonance and length.

Compared to the basic Classico a step up; round, smooth, balanced.

Interesting combination of bright berries and smoky notes. Lovely, but perhaps lacking in nuance and slightly tart?

I tasted it at 2010 Vinitaly, IMHO, was one the best tasting I had in the exhibition, starting from the typical colour of chianti, trasparent red, then the generous nose of leaves and earth, and finally very satisfactory on the palate where I noted good acidity a round tannins.

Chianti Classico (29 TN inside!) (Firenze (Italy) - Stazione Lepolda) : Nice, but a bit weak in body and acidity. Tannins are still harsh and no poor acidity to sustain alcohol (13,5%). From vineyards 35/40 y. old. AiS 80/85
