Incredible orange wine by Jean Michel Morel. It is everything I love in a wine.

One year of maceration on the skins in a buried kvevri makes this a wonderful orange wine. Morel is an artist using the Karthuli Method and this vintage shows it. Silky, elegant and gtreatly balanced. You can feel in your palate all the structure of this wine.

Cherries and raisons, almonds, walnuts, iodine, sherry, cheese rind, burnt caramel, chocolate, coffee, leather, woodsy notes (imagine antique lacquered wood), and mushrooms. Juicy finish with faint hints of honey, orange peel, and some tannin. Very nice, though if I’m being picky, I’d like a touch more acid (admittedly, I got more pop out of this on day 2). More elegant than I remember. Great with food again.
