- smells of gummy lychee candy, tart cherry, earth, and spice. Kinda smells like port - Tastes of tart cherry mostly - Bitter with some tannin and nice acidity, high alcohol? Idk med finish - Not my favorite. Maybe because I’ve had a few glasses at this point? But i don’t think I’d be the biggest fan of this anyway

Similar to my tasting note from December ‘24. However, this bottle was more characteristic of Willamette Pinot. Detecting lots of rose petals. Elegant wine and not overdone.

Medium ruby color. Nose is cherry, earth, dark red fruit. Medium high acidity on a palate alive with bright strawberry, raspberry, mushroom. Fantastic balance. Medium long Finish has some nice palate-cleaning tannin to it and forest floor, some light oak (vanilla, cinnamon). Exceptional wine.

This was a total standout and a pleasant surprise. This Pinot Noir bursts with vibrant red fruit—ripe cherry, raspberry, and a hint of cranberry—backed by silky tannins and bright acidity that give it both elegance and energy. Layers of spice, earth, and subtle oak add impressive depth and complexity for a young vintage. This bold, polished Oregon expression exceeded all my expectations, and I’m genuinely excited to explore Domaine Serene’s higher-end single vineyard bottlings next.

Decanted for 2 hours before pouring. Crimson red color. Nose consists of red cherry, earthy. On palate, burst of red cherry, little bit of candied vanilla cherry, earthy, medium finish, medium bodied. Tannins are smooth and silky, low acid.

Retail $70. Heavy Bottle (693g; 24.4oz). Under cork. Domaine Serene is one of those producers that I usually admire from afar. Sure, I have had a few over the years, but mostly those have been by chance as the price of the wines usually keeps me on the sidelines. But holy cow are they good. Case in point. Rich red berry fruit (intense Bing cherry) and considerable earth on the nose, this is what I seek when it comes to …

Smooth, easy drinking, medium bodied Pinot Noir. Some subtle oaky vanilla hints, with low and integrated tannin to the point of being almost glossy. Consumed over multiple days so no score, but probably 90-91.

Very fruit forward friendly wine. Tons of red fruit, raspberry, red cherry up front. Back of the palate lends to low acidity, medium plus body and very well rounded tannins. Delicious delicious wine

Easy drinking new world style Pinot Noir. Silky smooth round tannins with a semi-sweet finish with a touch of vanilla. Not what I was expecting from a Willamette Pinot Noir. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed drinking it.

Oregon Pinot Noir Conversion; 1/17/2020-1/20/2020 : Deep ruby in color with pink rim, nose was medium intensity with youthful fruit and some spice. Very present tannins. Overall impression was good and even better with some goat cheese.

Mixed Lineup (Kenwood Restaurant) : The flavor profile is consistent with Domaine Serene. The wine is fairly large, slightly creamy with red fruit. It does seem to be slightly past peak, which was quite evident while drinking this alongside the 2008 Evenstead Reserve. This wine seemed high-toned and a bit more mellow. i'm splitting hairs a bit, because it was still a great wine.

Mixed Theme at The Kewwood (The Kenwood, Mpls, MN) : Dark red color. Drank 1 glass over an hour plus. This was bigger and more intense on the palate overall with a more high toned feel the dark fruits. The fruit is gravitating toward a liqueurish character. I think this past peak and has lost some of the brightness I assume this once had. The texture is still good and the tannins are noticeable. I would not hold this myself.

Perfect cork and virtually no sediment. Dark ruby color to the edge still. Mellow and smooth, with dark berry and earth flavors. I didn't pick up a lot of complexity despite a nice long finish. Still tasty, but probably ready to drink.

I am an avid cab drinker and agree with the reviews... At first it has the taste of a merlot, but definitely softens with time in the decanter. Think it may continue to get better with age so will leave the rest of my bottles in the cellar for a few years.

Decanted for an hour but it still needed swirl time to open up. Blackberry nose, earth mixed with blackberry flavors. This bottle is a little disappointing, it's still very good, but not great.

Jerusalem Hill is never a soft light wine, it's a full flavored Pinot and this bottle was no exception. This bottle had a big blackberry nose, black fruit and tannins on the pallet, all with a nicely layered structure and a long velvety finish. This is tasting great right now, don't think it will get any better but it is no where near over the hill.

Disappointing. At this price point I expect an exceptional expression of Pinot Noir, but I didn't get it. My impression is that this wine was overextracted and heavy handed. If I had wanted a Shiraz or Cabernet I would have opened one. After about 4 hours in the decanter, this did lightened up abit and picked up some secondary Pinot charscteristics, but was still lacking.

Getting more towards drinkability now. Bright fruits have turned darker, and even a hint of soil and earthiness comes forth. Nice long finish, very well balanced. My favorite among the Serene portfolio in most vintages. this no exception. Still lots of life left, but it will change to a more earthy version is my guess.

Amazing. While average on the nose, simply amazing in the mouth. Dark velvet on the tongue and very approachable. My idea of a brilliant Oregon Pinot.

Double decanted and drank 30 min later...this bottle was appreciably better than my last, with a beautiful bouquet of dark fruit and flowers. The wine had excellent fruit but also good structure and a nice long finish. Drinking nicely now and likely will improve with another 1+ year in bottle.

We had this with friends on 12/6/09. It had a terrific bouquet of black cherry, potting soil, blueberry, burnt toast and spice. The palate was very smooth and balanced with flavors of black cherry, blueberry, blackberry, burnt toast and spice. It had a terrific, silky mouth feel and was exceptionally good.

Very, very nice. However, I am not sure that it is worth the price ($75ish). I'm pretty sure we enjoy the Evanstad Reserve from Domaine Serene just as much for about half the price.

Compex nose of carmel, toast, and red cherry. Similar flavors with notes of cola and spice. Lovely texture with balanced acidity helping along the long and layered finish. Drink with decant or hold for 3-5 years.
