Bott Frigyes Riesling

Macerated apple, sea salt, ripe melon, fennel seed and a hint of VA on the nose. This doesn't REALLY smell like Riesling to me - an issue I find on a lot of skin contact Rieslings. Medium + intensity of flavors. The palate, however, tastes very much like riesling, showing flavors of ripe white peach, plastic and a hint of yeastiness/lees. Medium + intensitry of flavors. There's a hint of brett/barnyard throughout the palate; but nothing that crosses into "funk" …

Good enough that I want to go visit the winery in Slovakia, which is surprisingly attractive. https://www.bottfrigyes.sk/en/#borok While for the most part this wine tastes like a steely, high-class riesling, there is an unusual resiny quality to this wine that I also tasted in a Hungarian furmint that I drank last night. This wine's producers are from Hungary. I wonder what it is....
