Vibrant fruit without being jammy. big red taste with good lingering taste. Not sure it will get any better. Wine Spectators rating of 94 was a good call. I wish I had 6 more bottles to hold until there 2029 upper range.

Drinking very well right now and it is everything I want in a Zin. Ripe red and black fruits, without being Jamy and still fresh. Herbal notes including sage, lavender, and thyme. Tannins are prominent, yet in balance, and gives way to a building finish that is slightly drying and tying back into the black fruit. Best Cortona I've had.

Very smooth , nice fruit, the lingering taste was less smooth than the 2016 we drank with it. Very good combination with spicey pork

This bottle is ready to drink and don’t rush it. It was so much better about 2 hours after it was opened and got better as we sipped.

Spectacular. Well aged cherry flavors and silky tannins make this absolutely delicious in the prime of the drinking window. But... I'm not sure how much better it will get with aging. I think it will survive just fine until 2029, but I really do believe it is downhill from here (2024). I say, enjoy now!

Based on this bottle, this wine may be coming around to what I expect from a Cortina. The flavors seem more true and balanced. We'll see.

Last bottle. All prior bottles were terrific. This one was just so-so. All of the bottles were shipped to me together and stored in the same place. Also, had a bottle earlier this year that was very good. So, I am confused. Wine is not a game of perfect.

This wine needs time to oxidize. After only a few minutes this wine was nice but uninteresting. Blackberry, pepper, fine tannins, balanced acidity. The second day was much more complex with a comples array of sage, vanilla, cinnamon, black petter, moss, and leather.

Identical to a bottle a year ago. Drinking very well. The bottle was open for about two hours before dinner.

Very smooth. Not harsh for a Zinfandel. Blackberry tones

We continued the zin trend last night with meatloaf and mashed potatos (had 2019 ridge geyserville thursday). With this Seghesio Cortina. Last minute choice so Pop n Pour. More Turley than Ridge in "style" very aromatic from the get go, elegant, red fruit (some underlying blue fruit), briary, come cedar, low tanins, super easy drinker, 15.5% so big wine, but enough acid (a tough ask for 2017s) to keep it balanced. Even more giving an hour later sipping after dinner. …

This bottle was from a different lot from the winery, and it struck me just like my previous Tasting Note. It was not as tasty, and it did not have as good balance as expected. To add insult to injury, it set me back 50% more.

To me '17 seems to be off of the Seghesio standard. Cortina has been our historic favorite, but this one does not seem up to the task. Good fruit flavors but they were all mushed together and very little briariness. We have 9 bottles so we'll see if it was just this bottle.
