Dark of colour and deeply pitched, crammed with dark fruits. Some Vitamin B from the oak and a suggestion of something meaty and animale. Rich and layered, dense and chunky. Needs a fair bit more time.

Excellent cork. Decanted due to age and reputation as tannic, but I was surprised that the solids were minimal so it decanted cleanly. Quite dark, narrow meniscus. Lively nose and flavour. Solid and although somewhat tannic, it was well integrated in its ripe vintage style. Plenty of fruit, so might age well, but I have a feeling that it migjt be near its peak, though a few years will make no difference. Very enjoyable amongst several 2005s, but really not …

Corked. Super bummed after holding this bottle for 16 years and looking forward to it. No other corked reviews ?! Yet a lot of blah reviews for a cherished vineyard , makes me wonder if others didn’t recognize the cork taint.

Opens up with mineral and black cherries. Oak is in check. Very good fruit concentration; but the tannins are very firm; giving this wine a rustic edge. I’m sue there is still upside; but I don’t think these astringent tannins are going away with age. Here is a Red Burgundy to match with game, lamb or steak. Decanting could help; but I’d try to do a food pairing to reduce the tannin sensation.

Deep ruby red with black core. Deep dark fruits, rich and ripe, floral. Med weight, fine furry tannins, good balance of sweet dark berry fruit and soft dark spice, some well integrated oak char spice, a little earth. Relatively firm structure, a little angular, and could well go another five years.

Outstanding Clos de Vougeot from what can be a variable Grand Cru. Violets and black currant traces in the bouquet. Velvety, full mouth feel with fine integrated tannins, perhaps a little forward in the palate. Drunk from magnum. Should hold its qualities for years to come.

potential for 93 over time, but this was a beast of a wine when opened, drank over two nights and both nights it was brutish with heavy tannins, good material in the background (cherries, velvety mouthfeel, some spice), but the tannins covered it so difficult to assess the subtleties, wait 7 - 10 years for next bottle to open

Deep dark colour. Nose starting to open and becoming quite complex with very pure dark cherry and plum with touches of violet and dark chocolate. Some Asian spice and earth touches. Palate shows intense fruit with plenty of layers and length. A quite austere line of fine tannin dominates the finish and suggests a long future of slow maturation.

There is a strong tannic spine and a medium finish with a faint hint of wood spice - very faint as it came through an hour and a half after the bottle was decanted. The concentration of fruit and structure of this wine very much surprised me. Blind, I never would have guessed pinot noir for this. I think it needs some more time to express some of its character and secondary notes, but I could see this being amazing in 10 years or so.
