Vina Alicia, Cuarzo, Mendoza

Not a fan of petit verdot .but this bottle really surprised me .blind TN with other 12 Bottle. This one is my 2nd pick of the day .I give 92 points , to conservative to save for special bottles. But I think this one should get 94 ponit

slightly corked

Dark purple, with a nose of black currants, blackberry, and earth. Black fruits and licorice on the full-bodied palate, with a bit of astringency on the finish.

Served fairly cool. Scarlet hue, nose of strawberry, plums, red currants, licorice, earth. Brambly and brash on the palate, with notes of stone, mineral, cinnamon, red plums. Suggests a specific and local terroir. Moderate, complex, provocative finish.

Aired in the glass for 2 hours. Dark, nearly opaque purple. The nose was spectacular, with pungent scents of BBQ sauce, raw beef, earth, and leather. When sampled after aeration, the wine had warmed to room temperature, and exhibited a nice attack of red fruits, licorice, beef blood, and licorice, but the finish seemed weedy and astringent, with lots of oakiness.
