Yellow apple and lemon fruit with plenty of freshly baked bread. Refined and lovely! Liked it a lot and a wine that ages really nicely!! Solid performance!

Nose: green apple, gingerbread, brioche, popcorn, honey Notes: quite a sweet and creamy nose in this. For an entry level NV this is excellent and very good value for money. Drink: Now+ Rating: 90

(16/20) Fresh and crisp Champagne, beautiful acidity, nice autolyse tones, good structure. Medium+ intense aromas of white peach, red apple, lemon zest, white grapefruit, blossom, biscuit, almond, croissant dough, chestnut, wet stone. Dry wine, high acidity, light body, pronounced flavour intensity, creamy mousse, long finish. 12% ABV - served @ Aan de Poel**

Well that is really darn good. Toasty and great richness to it.

Disg. Jan/feb 2013 Very Mesnil-liked champagne and producer typical with a very present acidity. On the nose: Vanilla, fudge and green apples On the palate: Citrus, vanilla, fudge and green apples. Combined with high acidity and minirality. Medium + finish

Red apples, vanilla and a decent depth. Definitely started to show its age and it seems to be at its peak, but could keep for a few years more.

Two recent bottles, opened slightly in advance. Creamy yellow fruit, with white floral and orangey peel elements and a cool undertone. The natural richness from the village has come through well with age - I would say this wine is at peak now ****

Starting to open up and show very well: slightly creamy, lemon and yellow fruit confit but also with a distinctly cool undertone. I imagine this will be better still in a couple of years ****+

For a relatively young Champagne, it was very disturbing to see that the cork had lost all expansive characteristics and put up no resistance on its opening. When Champagne has spent too much time on its side (instead of being stored upright for a few years after being on it side for many more) and the cork becomes soaked and loses its expansion, the carbonation escapes and you have a still wine that ages prematurely with the air exchange. I've …

I didn't like this much. Seemed a bit flat and tired. Had some hard competition, like a Comtes Champagne 1999, Ruinart rose 1996 and Henriot Enchantaleurs 1988.

Striking acidity with lovely citrus. A bit chalky and some apples. It broadens out with time and temperature. Drinking very well now, but no rush. At a point now between maturity with that young freshness still, a stage in development I really love in Champagne.

This was signing tonight much better than my last bottles a few years ago. Maybe that was a bad bottle or maybe the extra age helped. Chalky, high toned citrus, Apple and lychee. Full bodied and well integrated.

Mid straw. Quite ripe doughy apple and crisp citrus, orange blossomy notes, quite rich but still fresh and not honeyed at all. Starting to drink well but with potential upside. V good and I think the vintage suits this wine ****(+)

Very fine Le Mesnil champagne with a l chalky, salty backbone. Still refreshing citrus in the palate. Long clean finish. My last bottle. I love this champagne, still time to it over the next 10 years. Often I think 04 is similar to 02, not so lush and I think it will not age so well, but a very delicious year, 93-94

Continues to perform very well and at par with our last tasting a few months back. Good ripe feel, with nice depth, elegant champagne and makes up on the palate what it lacks on star power. 91 once again

Fine nose of green apple and citrus, surprisingly light minerality for Mesnil, elegant and enjoyable. Typical 2004 vintage wine, light and flowery, but perhaps lacking its usual complexity and weight. Lovely to drink, but I much prefer the 2002 for classic Mesnil power and minerality.

Very good with claypot rice, squid, omelette and vegetables. Only complaint - seems a little flabby, which is a surprise, given the vintage. Possible heat damage?

This one is for the lovers of richer, fuller champagne and felt really at a nice stage now. Still fresh and vibrant albeit well round, rich apple, touch of apricot. Well round, light yeasty, bready, soft champagne and very elegant. a very good 92

Le Mesnil-sur-Oger BdB Champagnes : Fat and milky, quite round and in your face friendly. Soft bread dough and ripe yellow fruits on the nose. Perfect with food. On the one hand accidity seems lower than usual, but it is well balanced and harmonic. An open, winning style of champagne.
