Thirsty late night drink at Maison Dakota. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of raspberry coulis, black cherries, dark red cherries, perfumed sweet spices, crayons. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour almost pronounced intensity, with flavours of extremely spicy white pepper, toasty oak, raspberry coulis, fruity black cherries, dark red cherries. Long finish. Good quality. A beautiful earthy pinot. Drinking well with several years ahead of it

Very tough still, even after 24 hours. Not sure it will come around. I love Calera, but the 2014s are uncharacteristically charmless after 6 years, except for the DeVillars, which was more consistent with other vintages.

Dream Big - Discover California Wine Tasting (Stockholm, Gamla Riksarkivet (old government archives building) March 2019) : Stemmy, dark, tight, tannic. Grippy. Needs to unravel in a cellar for ten years.

Nose- more spices than fruit, but some notes of strawberry come through with aeration. Palate- more red fruit but enticingly subtle. Light to medium tannin. Enough acidity to keep you honest. Really great with food. Paired with pork chops and cherry barbecue sauce, homemade Mac n cheese, and roasted broccoli. Great meal.

Aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg cherry. Elegant. More extracted but well made. Great food wine. Med tannin.
