Vines of up to 50 years of age, spontaneous fermentation, aged for 12 months in large used oak barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Great varietal typicity, sour cherries and plums, hint of cream, smoky and spicy minerality, juicy acdity, precise tannins, compact but supple, energetic and fresh, very good resonance and length. Everything in the right place, gorgeous in a modest way. Extra point for authenticity and value.

Medium ruby core, clear rim. Aromas of fresh blue and black fruit, clove, pepper, and a faint forest floor earthiness. The palate shows juicy, fresh blackberries, mushroom earthiness, and a finish of spice. Bright, lively acidity and good length. A simpler, but varietally correct example, and a great value everyday red that will pair wonderfully with food.

Kräftiges Rot im Glas mit roten Früchten in der Nase. Am Gaumen Kirsche und Pflaume. Säure und Tannine sind präsent. Angenehm zu trinken. Empfehlung.

Very well made.... good balance. Blue/dark fruits with good concentration and excellent structure. Med+ body, and stays very fresh and clean on the finish. High pleasure here.

Moric tasting, Dameli (Materia Prima) : The wine shows a more powerful and compact profile next to 2022. Ripe to overripe blue/black berry notes. There are some spices but more of herbal profile, a few stalky notes, fresh, sour cherry notes, fruit forward, friendly, a bit smoky too In the palate, the wine shows again a more powerful profile fruit forward, juicy notes, bold tannins, the acidity feels more elevated too. The wine shows blue and black berry notes. One …

Great to be back even to this entry level Blaufrankisch. Vines of up to 50 years of age, pontaneous fermentation, aged for 12 months in large used oak barrels, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Medium+ ruby colour. Medium intensity aroma of plums, ripe cherries, blackberries, herbs, liquorice. Medium+ body, juicy and refreshing with fruity and herbal notes, smoky touches, medium+ acidity, medium tannins. Nothing fancy but a well rounded pleasant Blaufrankisch.

Black cherry color. Inviting, spicy nose of dried roses, smoke, cedar, and tart cherries. Very focused. On the palate, much the same. Same profile, relatively delicate structure with mild but satiny tannin, cherry fruit, some pleasant bitterness, and a clean but lingering finish of fruit and roses. It’s not a barnburner nor is it complex, but it has elegance and charm, and a high deliciousness factor. And very moreish. Tasty.

A private lunch (Restaurant Perceel *, near Rotterdam) : Completely pure and natural style, sweet morello cherries, hint of chocolate, smoky stalkiness, cinnamon, transparent and elegant (12.5%), light weight but good depth, firm tannic grip, good length.

initially blowsy, primary, this quietened down, only; a 'wild' note, characterful, peppery, powerful, fully revved up. Will benefit from a couple of more years.

Thanksgiving Week Wines; 11/22/2012-11/25/2012 (Edison, NJ) : Juicy and tannic...this was a beast. The fruit was souped up with dense raspberry and plum notes all the while being somewhat cool. The palate had a good deal of mineral and spice to it...this was less Burgundian and more Cru Beaujolais.

Drunk over dinner with friends. No tasting notes, from memory. Fine nose of red fruit with spices and aromatic herbs. On the palate it has dark berries also with some spiciness, a beautiful freshness and lightness to it (without being hollow). Delicious.

Gorgeous perfumed aromas of cranberry, wild berries, pretty floral, cloves and mineral, just very fresh and clean. This has a beautiful elegance to it, it's also very focused and balanced with loads of tangy mouthwatering acidity. Burgundian in style, delicious and an easy task to polish off an entire bottle. Another excellent wine from Moric. (Best 2013-2020)

Much more linear than previous vintages, this is all about structure and fragrance with fruit playing a decidedly secondary role. The cool conditions of 2010 seem to have contributed to the very peppery aroma of this late ripening variety. Indeed, the nose has a dominant, unmistakeable note of earthy white pepper. The palate is sheer, charged, linear with some taut sloe fruit. As suspected, it was a superb match with Snofrisk goats' cheese from Norway. Lots of authenticity and interest …
