From half bottle. Opened for about an hour. Dark as can be, no signs of fading. Beautiful bouquet of rich cab aromas, with vanilla, chocolate/cocoa, dark red fruit. Rich, soft, still youthful, but very smooth and well integrated with lingering hints of vanilla on the finish. Saved one glass for day 2 -- perhaps even better the next day, but definitely not worse!

Drinking beautifully right now with only about 20 minutes of air. Would do best with a 30-45 min decant, but could probably hold up to a longer decant. Wonderful wine.

Very classic Napa heavyweight cab: blueberry, mocha, very good length, nice sweet spot in front. Very well vinified in that I could enjoy this despite my palate drift away from these kind of wines. My CA cab tastes have definitely drifted to lighter styles, like Spottswoode, EMH, et al. But this nevertheless shows very well. I saved about a third of the bottle for the next day: a lot of the heavier aspects of the wine (the blueberry milkshake side …

Loved it. Dark red, with all the cab aromas jumping out of the glass. Rich, full mouthfeel, dark red fruits, chocolate, oak, silky, and smooth long finish. The higher alcohol and oak treatment is noticeable, especially when compared to its "classic" Napa brethren with lower alcohol, but age has mellowed this wine that everything is in balance. If you're a fan of this style, this is as good as it gets.

Another flawed .375. Bad stretch of VA in these. Haven’t had that issue with my 750s. Glad this is my last of six half bottles. Really disappointing, because I love this wine and this vintage.

Time has been good to this wine. PnP, no decant needed. Great aroma with blueberry, blackberry, spice, anise, cassis fruit and slight floral. Still very fruit forward with blueberry, blackberry, cassis, anise, spice and slight floral, minimal oak. Full bodied, perfect balance. Long smooth finish with silky tannins. Amazing now, should continue to hold for another 5 plus years, not sure if it will improve.

I’m not sure time has helped the Materium. This has always been a fruit-forward “big” Napa Cab but now it feels almost over-the-top sweet. It’s an enjoyable wine to me but I suspect there are wine lovers out there who will find this disjointed and the sweetness, alcohol, and lack of acidity off-putting. FYI - fkacondor disagrees with me and thinks it was better than what I described above.

Fantastic experience from a Coravined bottle of four months. Huge jammy red fruit explosion in the mouth. Tannins still very present but don’t take over the wine. Only black look still to it. This wine is drinking very nicely for a 9 year old vintage. Still has lots of cellar time left. Had with fish.

Served with beef short ribs, scalloped potatoes and pan Jetta green beans. This was singing right from the go. A nose that filled the kitchen, and a soft velvety feel that the guests loved. Delicious.

A well made Cabernet with obviously no expense spared when it comes to the post harvest oak treatment. The wine is big and creamy with typical cabernet profile of heavy cassis, woven into new under toasted oak that comes accross as creme and marrow. This is a wine that you cant complain with about, but its a bit typical without any unique identity. Drink or Hold

Two hour decant. Plush black and blue fruits. A bit on the sweet/fruit forward style. Pleasant easy drinking. Not much backbone so won’t last much longer.

Nothing like my last bottle three years ago, which was so primary it was almost undrinkable. This has really integrated, with dark fruit and a deep sense of foreboding and power. A really nice wine, but I still don’t get the Uber high scores. I have had bd luck aging these, but I do want to see how this one does.

I was told that 2014 is the best vintage for Maybach. Yes and wrong. This vintage is amazing on palate. Amazingly balance between sweetness and acidity. Smooooothy. As for the nose, I like 2016 more. 2014 is not so sweet on the nose, more spice than 2016.

This was so enjoyable and in a great place right now. Drank with a number of other California cabs (M. Etain, Rivers Marie, and Cade Howell Mountain). This was the winner of the bunch. The nose was superb, violet, black fruits, and vanilla. The wine continued to evolve over the next few hours and settled down such that it wasn't cloying and extracted as others have noted. Give it some time to air and you won't be disappointed. Can't wait …

By far one of the best wines I have ever had in my life. Extracted but elegant. Powerful but silky. The wine is delicious and fun to drink. No, this is not a Bordeaux, this is a very powerful and hedonistic wine that makes a statement. Unless you do not like Napa cabs I have no clue how anyone can dislike the wine.

Decent wine but a bit clunky. No real finesse, more like a glob of fruit in your mouth. Slightly improved on second day with only the cork overnight.

Quick splash decant (I was thirsty 😆). Deep translucent garnet to lavender. Nose of cedar, blackberries and red roses. Taste is similar but more tart with notes of raspberry and cranberry and maybe a little bakers chocolate and chalk. Good balance of tannins and acidity. My only knock is it’s too tart but that may subside with more airtime. About a 90-91 on target with other reviews.

Needs to open up. Starts out very fruity and light. Once it opens up, it becomes less fruity/sweet, has more character. Still thin for a cab, so closer to a Pinot than a Cab.

Medium purplish ruby red. Love the nose on this bottling, deep and dark berries with a little black cherry liquor. Some graphite and floral notes too. Heavy tannins (8/10) and full bodied. Thick dark red fruits on the palate with undertones of dark cocoa and sweet tobacco. Needs some time to balance out. Long and lingering finish. Also from the Fortuna Vineyard. Drink till 2030. (93+)

Great color and easy nose. Fruity on the start but mellows nicely mid palate to a strong finish. With 85% Cabernet Sauvignon you know this will just get better with age. This future was the big winner for the year at Weins.
