Pale gold in the glass. Pronounced aromas of acacia, elderflower, vanilla, yogurt and a slight spice. Yellow apple skins. The palate is well-textured, and feels rather creamy with the oak tannins gripping the back of the gums. Medium+ acidity, medium alcohol. The palate shows the need for some further integration and balance, which this wine is more than capable of delivering. Overall, the oak and winemaking choices are obscuring the fruit and skewing the overall balance. Give this wine some …

Opened at noon for tartiflette lunch; honeysuckle, peach, pineapple, and cream. A good balance between fresh zip and flesh, perhaps leaning toward the former, with a medium body. By the end of lunch, I appreciated the shift toward its rounder counters, seeming mellow and more harmonious, less acerbic and complemented by creamy lime. Nice for drinking over the coming 5ish years.

Ripe and deep, with a good mouth feel of lemony acidity and tropical fruits up front along with some salinity, gentle oak and hazelnuts in back. Unlike some other recent tasters, however, I do not get an impression of white Burgundy, just a very good and very typical Sauv-Semillon blend, from a very good year in Pessac Leognan. Lovely.

This is quite complex and layered. White pineapple, white peach, mineral laced chalk, lilies and anise. Quite full-bodied, with length and a powerful middle palate. Gorgeous acidity and some oak, but nothing overpowering. Very precise and fine tannins. Some salinity. Drink now - 2040.

Went great with rare slices of tuna at tonight's with wine group dinner. Even though it was 85% SB and 15% Sémillon. many of the members thought it was a white burgundy. Medium body, very refreshing

Popped and poured. I have had several flawed bottles of this. This one is good and refreshingly fresh and clean. Pretty nose of grapefruit, tropical notes. The wine is medium to full bodied, early maturity and nicely balanced

Bordeaux 10 years later (By SS @ De Ertepeller in Papendrecht (Netherlands)) : A bit rustic bouquet with some citrus. Same on the palate, vanilla, fresh citrus acidity and a tiny sweet touch in the finish.

Citrus and tropical fruits. Full bodied with much but good balanced acid. Clear cut with muscles. The Sauvignon stands out. Good time to drink now but will keep up for many years from now on.

Remaining behind the phenomenal 2009 and behind my expectations for 2021 white Bordeaux. Nonetheless complex, generous, with much finesse. Ample minerality, peach, gooseberries, apple, lemon curd, nicely balancing sweet spices and honey. Quite a journey for the palate.

Yes, an enticing nose at first, but it dissipates quickly. I find the palate a bit odd; complex, yes, but not that appealing. I am reminded of preserved lemons, seashells and toast. Rather viscous and resinous. A food wine rather than a sipper, for sure. Having been opened and on our dinner table for almost two hours now, the finish is noticeably shorter than an hour ago. If you have these, drink up soon, I say.

Bordeaux 2014 - 10 Years On - 15 Reds : Beginning with three white wines, the Malartic emerged as the winner (92pts). It boasted an very good bouquet, encapsulating the quintessential aromas characteristic of a white Bordeaux. However, on the palate it was somewhat brief and straightforward. The Fieuzal (84pts)barely showed signs of life, with hints of baked apple on the palate. The Lynch Bages was disappointingly flawed due to premature oxidation. It's puzzling why DIAM corks were not utilized …

UGCB SF Tasting Event (Metreon, San Francisco) : Nice gooseberry, sleekness with a bit of smooth oak, nice structure and good pizazz. Short on the finish but prob because palate is shot. Stylistically more similar to DDC than Pape Clement blanc. 92

This was as ripe as you'd want in in this vintage - still back up by tremendous acidity to be sure - but felt relatively quiet and I think will just need some time in bottle to flesh out.

***see previous notes mostly the same BUT with some additions Nose is still vibrant, but with less lemon and more tropical fruit, also slate and wet hay. Acidity is still bracing, but balances well with the lemon notes which last a long time. (funny how the lemon notes still dominate the palate , but not the nose.) paired perfectly with salmon. Has lots of life left, and will probably improve.

Beautiful. And I think I enjoyed this even more a few years ago when it was younger and more vibrant. Age brings softer, rounder notes and some complexity but I slightly prefer the more vibrant, fresh character in youth.

There are various nuts here as well as some pineapple Palate: medium-high acidity and medium-full body strong intensity, vigor, and balance is pretty good Finish: medium Very nice. This has developed beautifully from the austerity of its youth. The elements have integrated providing lip smacking enjoyment. Despite the 14 percent ABV there is nothing heavy about this wine the balance is impeccable, there’s a moreish creamy texture with ripe fruits that are satisfyingly mouth filling . Very classy indeed with gorgeous luminosity.

This is really, really good. Classic Bordeaux Blanc, for my taste. Combines that medicinal smoky, resinous, cured lemon, linseed character with fresher notes of squeezed lemon, vanilla bean, and bready notes. Zesty and rich at the same time, dry yet juicy. Oily yet puckering. Distinctive, excellent length, good grip. Much like other vintages from here but with a bigger punch and more palate depth. Wonderful. 93-94 pts.

This last bottle was finally of the quality you come to expect from Malartic blanc. A step behind the marvelous 2009 in my opinion, this excels with super precise and balanced fruit notes, comprising mango, pineapple, green apples. The length is medium and supported by a very fine acidity giving at a lively push on the palate. For this lot bought at auction, though, there was unfortunately a serious problem of premox, affecting 4 out six bottles.

EXCELLENT!

Bordeaux night with Friends (Rue St Mark) : A new wine for me but Bordeaux Blanc from Graves has some good company and this wine was quite nice. It's a bit more in the green style - a bit grassy and almost a hint tangy. Not overdone (I do not care for the Chilean or NZ versions of the grape). More I would say this keeps all the freshness. Very nice.

Spices, honeysuckle, lemon rind, pomelo, pears and yellow apple notes are easy to find on the nose and palate. The wine is creamy, fresh, bright, long and packed with sweet yellow fruits and crispness in the finish. The wine blends 89% Sauvignon Blanc with 11% Semillon. Drink from 2023-2034. 94-94

Sauvignon 90% and Sémillon 10%, aged 12 months on lees with bâtonnage in French oak barrels (60% new), 14% vol. Double decanted 2h ago. Gooseberry, lemon and an exotic touch, high acidity, nice bitter note that asks for food, medium bodied, long finish. Still very youthful, nevertheless already very good (~92) but will be even better in a few years and will hold easily till 2034.

Light to medium gold color. Smoke and melon-like aromas. Multi-layered texture and ripe white fruit, this complex white Bordeaux is superbly balanced. Medium to full-bodied. Long aftertaste with only a mild nuance of oak. At 11 years old, this wine is both fresh and mature. Delicious now, but should easily hold another 5 years. It is made from 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon.
