26% Roussanne, 25% Chardonnay, 19% Grenache Blanc,17% Chenin Blanc, Viognier 13%. The first time I've had DeMorgenzon's Maestro - a classic South African white blend with less Chenin than some - which actually I rather prefer. I'm not as enthusiastic as other reviewers about this 2014. There's a bitter note I find a little offputting otherwise the score would be higher. Perhaps it's the Baroque music played in the vineyards (see back label!).

Lovely pale gold colour with aromas of pear, apricot, charred wood, oak smoke, spice, lemon and lime. The palate has richness with ripe peach and apricot, intense mid palate with lemon and lime fruit coming through and then pronounced chilli spice on the long finish. Stunning and great value at £17 from The Wine Society.

Very much enjoyed the first glass without food. Beautiful nose of apple and that flinty/rocky smell. The palate is complex, I really taste the Viognier, which I love. Very nice rounded mouth feel. Well balanced. After being open for 2 days I felt the Chard became dominant and, while still good, I did not enjoy it as much.

This bottle went fast so didn't get but a taste but it was an outstanding white blend.

Complex aromas of ripe peach, apricot, pineapple, nougat plus smoke as well. The palate is delicious with sweet ripe fruit of peach, apricot, pineapple, smokey flavours too. Complex, ripe and wonderful with superb balance despite 14% ABV. Had the stuffing to cope with a spicy chicken wrap.

Bracing, acrid entry. Lots of interest, lean, mineral.

This is an excellent South African white blend. Made with five grapes including Roussanne, Chard and Chenin Blanc. I think the Chard might dominate but not by much. Not unlike a Chablis--full of mineral and tropical fruit, plenty of acid but no obvious oak or citrus.

White peach, honeysuckle, subtle and lovely oak. Refined and perfectly balanced. 14% alcohol is not in any way overbearing. This feels very much like a white Chateau neuf du Papes with creamy oak or a very elegant new world rendition. I would drink this now for its opulence, lusciousness and creamy Youthful concentration. Not cheap, but certainly fairly priced.

Rhone style white blind tasting session (Extra Space) : Tasted blind. Pop and poured. Drank over 2.5 hours. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of steely minerality, citrus lemon, greengages, and some of that Sauvignon Blanc pyrazine thing (although it was clearly established later that there is no SB in this blend). Youthful. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (14%), medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of steely …

Large tasting pour at a South African tasting. Crisp, nice balance, good acidity, interesting blend. You can taste and pick out the characteristics of many of the components. Well made. If I were a bigger fan of white Rhones I probably would have scored this higher.
