The intensity of this wine from a weaker vintage amazes me. Abundant black cherry and a snootful of teaberry and a finish of balsamic and Asian 5 spice. As nice as the wine is, it doesn’t evolve in the glass in any major way. The first and last sip are very similar. Next to the Adelsheim Bryan Creek, this wine takes on a sweetness and lacks the finesse of the Adelsheim. Nevertheless, a fine effort. Some sediment in the bottom …

Loring red remains the color of this wine. No sign of being 8 years old. Cola, lavender (That’s a bit of a surprise!) Asian 5 spice, cherry, and vanilla carry the nose. The palate is much the same, but with prior bottles of this vintage the wine is linear, yet with decent length. The finish is a tad alcoholic. On the second day, the wine has tamed down a scooch and doesn’t taste as alcoholic as it did last night, …

Loring red! Chines 5 spice on the noese with Dr. Pepper, and something floral. Much the same on the palate - very linear and decent length. As a cocktail, it works and helps to seal the deal. A fair amount of sediment. 14.7% alc. With Ruth and Paul Bugas as we showed them our (now their) wine rack. Recommended.

Loring red: check! Cranberry, tart black cherry, tobo, cinnamon: check x 5! The nose and palate appear to be married and on a second honeymoon. The intensity of the cherry is as if cherries are pureed in a blender. The round tannins wrap the acidity. The trinity of fruit, tannins and acid balance deftly. A fair amount of sediment already precipitates out. 14.7% alc. With grilled tuna. Excellent pairing; we enjoyed this quite a lot. Recommended.

Remarkably consistent with prior note: Warm black cherry, sandalwood, asian spice on the nose; black cherry compote, asian spice on the palate. Finish a little smoother with time, but still has tangy, tart kick.

Black cherry and plum fruit. Lucious mouth feel. Some baking spice mid palate. Kind of short finish and not much complexity. More of a cocktail wine than food wine. 11/2/2018 Noted more tartness this time around. Some richness in the spices. But just never came together very well.

Lighter crimson than expected with rose meniscus. Fair amount of fruit and heat when first opened - took a while to settle down. Warm black cherry, sandalwood, asian spice on the nose; black cherry compote, asian spice on the palate. Fleshy, tart finish.

Does not seem to be in a good place at the moment. Bitter taste, a bit of heat, and a little too much full throttle (even for a Loring). I am holding off on the rest of the bottles and giving them some time.

Stunning. Brimming with bold, structured fruit. Solid results from a tough year.

Cherry notes, tight flavor that opens up. Drinkable now.

Another great wine from Brian Loring. The 2011 Cargasacchi is a full bodied expression of Pinot. Blueberry, chocolate covered cherries, cedar (maybe it was the cedar plank smoked salmon we had it with) and surprisingly tobacco emerge from this opulent Pinot Noir. Tasty and inviting, calling you back for another glass. There is a reason I keep buying more of this wine each vintage ... it is delicious.

Sta Rita Hills tasting- Sunday 7/7 : Big and opulent, with notes of baked plum and black cherry with lots of baking spice and hints of earth and medicinal-herbal notes. Aggressive fruit and spice paired with a velvety and rich mouthfeel, with a full finish.

Massive, unrelenting, masculine pinot. Although well made, it is definitely a cocktail wine. The antithesis of Burgundy.
