Still quite bright. No bricking at the edge. Excellent nose with floral and berry notes. Firm acidity, good fruit flavors. Can still hold for several more years I would guess.

Saturday Night Cali Cabs (Our House (2033 Brandywine)) : Decanted for 3 hours. Not your typical California Cabernet. Lighter. Red fruits dominate, along with the acidity. Maybe a touch of menthol. In any event, this showed much lighter than I expected. Definitely a cooler climate wne. Tannins not really pronounced. This had a lip smacking juiciness due tot he acidity but it resembled a wine that would be, say in the $20-30 range.

Ditto prior note. After 2 more years, the wine is smoother, and it's signficantly smoother than the nose would suggest. The nose makes you expect huge tannins, but alas, that's absent. Some sour apples is closest you get. Excellent.

Lean, angular, unripe, vegetal. Given some of the prior reviews, I suspect either barrel by barrel filling or contamination.

Strong and spicy on open, but after decanting, excellent smooth taste and nose.

Crazy nose of pine needles, lavender, cocoa, and vanilla. It's like a wild ice cream flavor concoction. Great acidity and red fruits on the entrance. It's very smooth with multi-layers of depth...chocolate, violets, strawberry, cherry, minerals, etc. The finish is velvety with some tannic structure, but its totally approachable now. I've never had a wine like this before. I really like it...awesome effort. I can't help but wonder how this will taste in a few years. Worth the money.

Great bottle. Big nose. Full and complex on the palate with great acidity. Everyone loved this.

This was easily the best showing I've experienced for this wine - perhaps it is coming into its own; It was actually better than the '06 Margit's MB tonight, which I never though would happen; Well done

tasted at Scholium tasting, USQ wines, NYC: grapes sourced from older, dry farmed vineyard which has not been used for single vinyard wines before Scholium (this was the first release). Purple-black. Palate of cdear, dark fruit, good acidity. long finsh. not a big, intense, in-your face Cab by any measure but still can be recognized by Cab drinkesr. Another unique wine, but slightly more mainstream.

Decanted 90 mins. ahead. Medium-dark garnet color with a bit of black. Ultra-nice nose of pine needles, cedar, plums, a bit of tar, minty notes: very classy aromas of a classic mountain cabernet. Deep flavors of plums and black cherries. Friendly acidity, not forbidding, and nicely balanced for its weight. Finish is long and it comes in waves, with earth, orange peel, iron shavings over light, velvety tannins. This wine is memorable. Not over-extracted, probably picked after the 09 rains. …

Scholium Dinner (Ripple - Cleveland Park, Washington, D.C.) : From barrel sample. Had very nice dark fruit and subtle mint on the nose with undertones of smoke and lavender. Has nice weight, but also good deal of elegance. Enjoyed this stylish cabernet very much.
