Vino Bondo blind tasting. This took top place. Nose of cherry and herbaceous spice like juniper and pine. Strawberry and other red fruit on the palate. In my notes I have "Volnay-ish" due to the velvety texture, weight and elegance. Group rank #1; my rank #3.

Bodega Chacra masterclass with Piero Incisa della Rocchetta (Compline Wine Store, Napa CA) : The nose is perfumed, yet savory and elegant with flowing tones of dark red fruits, fresh herbs, crushed berries, dark red cherries, raspberries, sarsaparilla, and violets. The Medium bodied feel shows off the elegance of the nose along with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium tannins. The structure does have a touch of youth, but it isn’t overpowering as the feel really leans into he savory …

Superb.! Dark cherry nose that is mimicked on the palate with cherry cobbler, soft tannins and lengthy finish. Delicious!!

Deep red translucent in the glass with black cherry nose. Fresh black cherry fruit in the mouth, soft tannins and bright acidity. Succulent medium length finish completes this beautiful wine. One more bottle left. I think I’ll give it two more years as I suspect it can still improve it’s integration.

Showing very well at Suckling faire in NYC. Will improve with air and/or time, but definitely a solid QPR

Pinot Noir from Patagonia has been one of my favorite recent discoveries, and this bottle is a perfect example of what makes the region exciting. A medium-bodied wine with medium+ acidity, it’s full of fresh sour raspberries, pomegranate, and strawberry notes, with touches of tobacco flowers and a little bit of candy sweetness. It feels very elegant, refined, and vibrant, with a very long finish that’s very minerally. Just a fantastic Pinot Noir—so pure, yet so deep.

Lucky to stumble into a case of this at a great price. This is a definitely a winner with a nice long finish, soft tannins and medium acidity. Already had 3 bottles and counting. Could use some aging but definitely accessible now.

Dark red cherry, strawberry and spices. Nice body and acidity. Well balanced with a long finish.

Last bottle of a fantastic wine. Perfect match with troats. Expensive but worth it. Now it is time with the 2013 case.

IT Super Peking duck lunch at Maison Dakota. Cork-closure. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Re-explored in Grassl Cru on day 2. Appearance is not clear, fine cloudiness, clearer on day 2 after standing. Ple intensity, ruby colour. Thin legs. Nose medium intensity (medium+ day 2), with aromas of whole bunch spice, earth dirt, licorice, red berries, dark red cherries, woodsy herbs, stony minerality. Pungent red berry nose that carries through on the palate with great acidity soft tannins and a lengthy finish. Very fresh still.

Beautiful nose and lots of red berries and spices on the palate. Very complex body and a long finish - loved it. My first Pinot Noir from Argentina and it wasn’t my last, excellent stuff. Dank at Restaurant Zoilo in London.

Easily one of the best Pinot Noir from the Southern Hesmisphe. Very concentrated old vine, cherries, strawberries, and some spices. Need air. Can hold for another decade or so. Not cheap but worth it.

Needs air, ideally 1 hr+ in a decanter before it gets going, or more time. Plenty of concentrated old vine fruit here

Good nose, perfume with a savoury edge Dark cherries and a nice savoury quality SOme oak, spicy, rich and long

Bodega Chacra and Tenuta San Guido Dinner with Piero Incisa della Rocchetta : Floral, acidic yet supple, almost a modern, sand-soil based barolo. Conterno's Cicala comes to mind. The vineyard, planted in 1932, has in fact a higher sand soil composition. Used oak aging. The wine is soft, voluptuous, supple, and sexy. Excellent.
