Lovely wine but the vintage is leaning towards the sweet side and currently lacks a bit of balance that will definitely come with more aging. It is fresh and open with exotic fruits and a touch of lemon-like acidity. Reasonable length but finishes sweet.

Somewhat herbal and green at first with chervil, lemongrass, honeysuckle, with green apple and kiwi fruit. Some ginger and petrol lies underneath. Big fruit, with residual sugar present but a clean, textured mineral finish. So bright and ethereal yet rich and deep. I liked it.

Medium-light, almost dry, mineral nose with a hint of orange peel, silky texture, apple and lemon flavors. An enjoyable wine but, as is usual, doesn't present the excitement and energy one can find in the BJS. Cellared since original release.

It truly amazes me how a 13 year old Riesling can taste fresher than a five year old chardonnay. Still impeccably bright and fresh but this gained some minerality and complexity in the last three years. I am glad I had a bottle left. Wish I had more. Nose of lime, cherries, slate. Palate is just like the noise, with terrific acidity, fairly sweet but balanced, great length. Delicious and so easy to drink.

Dinner with Rob in LI : lermon - lime, yellow/green apples, crisp mid that gained more minerality and zing with time. orchard fruit - pear and apple dominate. touch of nuttyness in mid. with time - some red currants as well. yummy!

Pungent, creamy, steely, smooth & tight. Mostly green/yellow orchard fruit. Nectarine, lime, tart nectarine with a smack of crisp Granny Smith, & a touch of Rainier cherry. Tight & flowery, poised between fruit, acid, & stony minerals. Gaining stony lime/minerality with air. Quite nice, & well preserved for an *cough* "older" Kabi. (91+)

Floral bouquet, there's quince too, it's a bit sweet for a kabinett, but not heavy. Lots of limey fruit and racy acidity, terrific finish, drinking fine.

This joins the group of Kabinetts which I could not find any fault with. Had expected something leaner from this vintage but this was nicely ripe yet with a clean core of minerality. Very sappy and balanced with loads of sweet green fruits. Still primary and very fresh. A nice Riesling.

perfect kabinett. low alcohol - 8%. enjoyed on the patio in palm desert for lunch with the family. acidity is still fresh and youthful with great pineapple, citrus and granny smith character. light and 'agile'. will burn through a couple more this week.

Light straw color. Classic aromas of peaches and pears. Citrus freshness on the palate. Sweetness well balanced by pleasant acidity. Grapefruit finish and a pleasant aftertaste.

This wine has developed nicely over the past 3 years. The fruit is developing increased complexity and the flavor is now a combination of honeysuckle flowers, pears, granny smith apples and honey. There is depth to the flavor and a moderately long finish.The acidity of the 2004 German wines has subsided, and this wine is developing flavors reminiscent of a late harvest wine but with low sugar and no botrytis.

Pale lemon, slight petillance. Nose a little diffuse and subdued, some apple, lime and minerals. Light across the palate, off dry with light prickle. Crisp with lime and apple flavours, some minerality but again lacking a little depth and persistence. Will reserve judgement and try again tomorrow. Next day no better, but its sudued arimatics and short finish lead me to suspect low level cork taint. NR

My second bottle. last bottle was in July 2007. This bottle was all fruit salad. White fruits - apples - both red delicious and Granny Smith - pears and apricots. Last time I though this was half way between Kabinett and Spatlese on the sweet-o-meter but this time the sweetness was more subdued and the acidity was noticeable, making the wine more enjoyable. I would call this a Kabinatlese. Just a bit more sweet that a normal Kabinett. Very floral with white fruits like pears and a bit of apple on the nose. Followed through on the palate. Sweet, pleasant and easy to drink. Despite the speech that Lyle Fass made to me about higher acid in the 2004s than the 2003s, I think this was on the light side when it comes to acid level. Sweeter than I usually drink, as my wife quickly puts off dry wines in her unfavorable "tastes like kool-aid" catagory. But this is no soft drink. Very pleasant aromas and flavors--white fruit and flowers-this is what I imagine angels in heaven enjoy on a warm day, listening to harp music. I bought two bottles because the WA tasting note described "dry tasting." Next to a BA, perhaps. Crisp acidity balanced out some of the sweetness. A little sulphuric, too. The second night (in the fridge and simply rescrewed) was better. The sulpher had blown off, the sweetness had subsided and the fruit came forward: green apples, pears and apricot, balanced by the crisp acidity.The score was upgraded for the second night.
