Lots of cherry on nose. Moderate tannins but not harsh. Medium body with reasonable acidity. Drinking fine as far as age, just not very exciting or complex.

In a strange place that is a tannic monster. Has some fruit but not great right now. Will wait on the last just to see what comes of it.

A wonderfully pleasant wine. Deep purple color and a nose reminiscent of roses and Lilly of the Valley with a waft of raspberries. The first taste is of a sturdy oak backbone wrapped in backberries and raspberries followed by pleasantly mild tannins and a nice blended finish with fruit, oak, tannins and alcohol. Served with Veal Ossobucco Milenenaise and Yukon Gold Gnocchi. It paired perfectly with the deep meat juices and the sweet of the tomato sauce.

This is good, but the mineral note is dominating a bit too much right now. Especially true on day 2. Will hold my other bottles a little longer.

Solid wine, seems in the right drinking window. Notes of dark cherry, also some dirt. Starts to mellow with time. Becomes less sweet after an hour of decanting.

better than my last bottle, juicy and plenty of red fruit with a balanced touch of wood and cigar box. Not too complex but really enjoyable

Unforgiving, really not ready yet. High quality oak makes this shy and tightly structured, austere even. Sangiovese's pretty black cherry, leathery notes still come through, though. Sinewy and bone dry, there is something nebbiolo-like about it. Savoury and very tannic. A serious wine without a question, with a 90+ potencial, but closed and embryonic, will need quite some time to open up. Try in 2025 the earliest, but most likely it will be at its best after 2027. interesting blend of Sangiovese (80%) Merlot and CabSauv, which benefits from some ageing in barriques. My advice is to wait at least a couple of years thus allowing to reach its best drinking window although the wine is already enjoyable

nice tuscan blend, close at the opening but then delivering its true scents and taste. Still youthful, needs air. After a long gravel bike ride on the right bank of Ticino river

Day Two and still going strong. Simple but satisfying "Maremma" blend. Black and red syrupy fruits, cigar box, ground espresso. Mouthfiling, fruit forward but with a grippy backbone through to the finish. Good acidity; ideal for fattier foods. Great QPR.

90% Sangiovese with 10% Merlot. Decanted two hours but I could of gone longer. Big black fruits, earthy, peppercorns, bakers chocolate, freshly ground espresso, cigar humidor. Paired great with some braised beef.

Welcome to Napa valley If you like big, concentrated, "heavy", almost syropy juice then this is yours. And mine too. Why? Balance, balance, balance. 2 hr in decanter. Aromas - strong, well defined, lovely. Mix of red and black fruits, tabacco ( nice!), minerals ( surprise!), coffee ( oh mamma mia! Taste - yes, it's sweet and syropy, but the same time it's spicy, dry, energetic, addictive. Again: red and black fruits, chocolate and milk coffee long finish with spice and …

Blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, the medium-high intensity nose has a lovely bouquet of sweet red cherries, rose floral, and sweet spice aromas with subtle earthy and mineral tones. On the medium-full bodied, chewy palate it has lovely, balanced replays of red cherry, rose floral, and savoury wood spices. It's really nicely balanced with juicy acidity, and plush, textured tannins that have just subtle chalky grip. A pleasing mix of savoury, woody, minerally, and red berry notes linger …

Enjoyed with Tuscan butter mushrooms and spinach in a creamy pesto sauce. An exceptional pairing. Also, tasted alongside the same vintage Lilian Ladouys. Quite ironic that of two comparably priced 2018 reds, the Tuscan delivered notably better balance than the St. Estèphe. Go figure! Anyway, certainly fruit forward, but there is an appealing rusticity to it, including considerable mid palate range and depth. Judiciously oaked, not over extracted, and it wears its 14 abv very well. Seemingly a touch better …

91+ It's a little backwards right now. Crognolo is an anomaly in being a $30 bottle of wine that needs and improves with 3 years minimum cellar aging. To my mind this one has the structure to drink well 10-20 years after vintage if cellar conditions are ideal.

Young and green, elegant and mineral. Good tension but fairly short. Reminiscent of a Pomerol. Even though the 15% alcohol isn’t felt at the beginning, it does mark its presence as you go back to the bottle. Give it 3-5 years before next one. Not worth the $100 entrance fee (at this price point there is a lot of tough competition).
