Getting there, 91/93 Way more integrated and interesting than the last botte of the same vintage It's lifted, with a bit of reduction, nice fruit, some pear, and apples, but flowery too... I definitely prefer ZA Chenin than the Loire ... :) Palate is vivid, salivating, flowery and Peary, with great length, salivating, not salty here but a nice fuit and balance with rounded acidity !

-- popped and poured -- -- tasted non-blind over a couple hours on Day 1; revisited on Day 5 -- -- 100% Chenin Blanc -- NOSE: expressive; tangy, in a gueuze-like manner (not bretty or natty, however); light orange. Still gueuzey on Day 5. BODY: medium-light green-yellow color; medium to medium-full bodied. TASTE: tropical, with a little mix of O.G.-Chenin; a bit too ripe, or maybe a touch too much r.s. for me, although Ash feels it's completely dry, so …

Pop and pour, then tasted during 3/4 days Nose very flinty and reduced, but not on the matches, more like on lees reduction... very rocky or sandy smell, then opens up over more waxy or honey character and slightly peachy, but not a show off, very restrained wine palate is likewise, with lots of aromas of flinstones, and lees, wit a lingering tart and fresh finish... baby wine... nice

Cape Cru 2024 - South Africa tasting (Zuiderkerk, Amsterdam) : No detailed notes. From bush vines planted in 1956. Herbs, mineral, lean. Very good. 91+

Lay & Wheeler South Africa tasting (Glazier's Hall) : A little reductive and smoky with peach, lemon, apple and spice on the nose. Concentrated, broad with a touch of bitterness and great acidity. Really nice.
