Bought in restaurant. Tim Heaton gets it. It was great with a rich wild boar pasta dish.

PnP that showed really well. I've held a pair of these since my allocation in 2018; time has been this wine's friend. Medium ruby core, no sign of age; clear and bright. Aromas are fairly intense and focus mainly on a sense of place, with well-defined notes of dark red berries, etc. The palate is med/med+ body, with fresh acidity, fine lines and good+ length and complexity. This transformed from first glass to last while adding greater transparency; really gets …

Soft, supple, and full of flavor. Fragrant floral. Well balanced with a hint of dark cherry. Drinks very well right now and another couple years. Not a long keeper but lovely.

Dark colour with red fruits, cherries, plums, medium bodied with good depth, liked this more than the 17 Bartolo Barbera I had a few days ago but best with 1-2 more years

This had a quite lovely nose of red cherries, strawberries, violets, roses, and figs. Nice acidity with more strawberries, cherries, kirsch, and leather on the palate. Good finish and body and noticeable tannins for a Barbera. Delicious and went really well with pasta, but a bit expensive for what it is.

Pop/Pour. Shows a darker plum fruit, with good acidity and tannins of youth. Great fruity drink and rather tasty. Value might be debatable but tasty nonetheless.

Another excellent Barbera from Bartolo Mascarello. The bouquet convinces with some fresh raspberries, rose pedals and some almonds. The 2016 is quite powerful compared to other vintages, but the intense intensity give it a crunchy and lively mouthfeel.

Wow this is good stuff. The nose is lovely with a melange of ripe red and black fruits, lovely spice and floral notes. The palate has excellent depth for a barbera with beautiful balance and a long finish. One of the best barbera's I've had.

Aerated to decanter for 2 hours; seemed perfect. Young, vibrant, and so well red-fruited. I find the young, low-ish tannins to be well integrated, band I also find the wine to be holding back a little, and so I'm going to wait at least another year before I think about one. Focused, structured as well as it could be, and a joy. recommended https://www.ItalianWine.blog

There’s a reason Barbera D’Alba is my favorite wine on the planet, and this is one of them. Captivating flavors of red fruit and incredible acid worked well with the evening’s meal. Both it, and the bottle, unfortunately didn’t last long enough.

Opened for 2 hours. Color is a very pretty ruby red. On the nose: Red fruits and a whiff of vanilla. On the palate : Wow factor tart red berry liquor, red cassis just a hint of vanilla in background. This is stunning. Should be on the Veranda at Villa D’este . That is the mood this puts me in. I have only this bottle but I will seek it out.

Grippy tannins. River stones, a mix of red and black fruit. Impressive.

I generally think of Barbera as a reliable, inexpensive red that goes great with pasta and pizza. Bartolo Mascarello Barbera d'Alba takes the grape to a much higher level of sophistication and complexity. The solid red fruit base is still there, but there are also subtle layers of earthy herbs and spices, some game notes. The somm at Babbo in NYC decanted it for us. It is medium to dark-bodied, a lovely garnet color. The initial taste was a bit …

a benchmark for the grape. Incredible wine. Very different than Rinaldi just the other day, more red fruited and maybe slightly bigger.

Perfumed nose of bright red fruits, some floral elements. Bright acid, medium finish.
