2008 vintage

Had to revisit this, given the weird previous showing. Much better, that previous seriously advanced bottle was obviously flawed, despite the cork being in perfect condition (curious what could have happened there?). Anyhow, this bottle has nice aromatics, still with roses, tar, and now with some nice strawberry notes and light spice. Tannins are somewhat drying, but good fruit, a full palate, and medium finish. Quite a difference!

Drink up if you got 'em! Surprisingly advanced for such a young cru Barolo. Already showing some signs of bricking, on entry if you told me this was a 1974, or even 1964, I likely would have believed you. Showing advanced notes of leather, roses, tar, and a nice red-fruit perfume with some subtle spice, on the palate this is still tannic and a bit rough. Short finish.

Soft delicate very perfumed bouquet of violets flowers and sweet red fruit with oak integration. Nice tannins and length. Delicious wine

Perfect with steak and side of pasta in marinara. Took an hour to open up.

Purple-brown hue that opens with subdued hibiscus and anise aromas. Molasses, fig and leather on the front palette with a lingering cola and spice finish. Full bodied with excellent acidity/fruit balance. Only a year or two left on this vintage and producer.

First bottle of questionable provenance from WineBid out of dozens purchased. Intact cork, but quite bricked, with a muted stale nose, dead palate, and bitter finish.

Spicca nella serata per il naso, intenso, che baroleggia decisamente. Frutti di bosco, viola carnosa, spezie dolci, liquirizia, note di tostatura. al palato abbastanza caldo e glicerico , ma con bei tannini e acidità a sgrassare. finale medio lungo.

Mauro Veglio Barolo med Munskänkarna Stockholm (Stockholms Vinkällare) : Här märks fatbehandlingen mer än i de nyare årgångarna. Förutom de vanliga tonerna av hallon och viol fanns en del kaffe och mörk choklad. Lite mognad också i form av multna bär, någon tyckte att det doftade mylta, alltså väl mogna hjortron. Stram, syrlig smak av bland annat slånbär.

quick tasting @ l'Insieme Tour 2012: Smooth texture, full-bodied, dark cherry fruit, very chocolatey too, nice balance, almost silky for a Barolo, a bit acidic on the finish. Another very tasty Barolo from Veglio. For medium term storage. - 90 points

very limited notes, but nicely balanced with good complexity. would repurchase.

2004 vintage

Decanted for four hours. Intensifying aromas of truffles and dried raspberry formed over that period of time. Also a hint of hot pepper on the nose. Smooth, light velvety texture. The nebbiolo is not too harsh, so very drinkable, however at the same time not very bold. Again truffles fill the mouth, along with anise and cherry tart. Later, subtle hints of jolly rancher and sandalwood arose. A fairly impressive barolo.
