Trefethen, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Oak Knoll District

This '19 'Reserve' Cabernet Sauvignon from Trefethen was served side by side with a 2020 Baker & Hamilton cabernet sauvignon from VHR to close out the Thanksgiving week. This is my second go-around with this bottle and it remains incredibly consistent. This is dark fruited, blackberry, black plum, brooding and broad, vanilla oak spice, sweet spice. This isn't overly complex in any sense of the word but it does its job for 'entry' Napa cabernet. Defiantly New World but enjoyable. …

Rich and smooth texture with a clean finish.

Beautiful wine. Nice pure fruit. Good acidity. Smooth tannins. Drink or hold.

Very dry. Probably great with food especially dessert.

This ‘19 ‘Reserve’ Cabernet from Trefethen really walks the line of finesse when it comes to Napa Cabernet. Initially met with black plum, fresh blackberry and later with white pepper. Acidity here works incredibly well with the fresh black fruit flavor and makes this wine hit another level for the winery. A lot of longevity with this bottle and was a great Christmas Eve with McCoy & family. I scored this wine 94 points.

WOW! Impressive, both in absolute terms and for it's age. Complex nose jumps out of the glass, palate follows with layer after layer of fruit, herbs, leather and other secondary aromas. Bravo!

Was very surprised this wine as still good purchased 15yrs ago in Napa on 2nd Anniversery drank on 16th Anniver was smooth and still had good flavor and aromas.
