It has some life but drink soon. Deep red with a little bricking at the edges. Still has primary fruits (cassis) balanced by oak & acidity, giving way to mature dark fruit (plumb/prune). Some mineral, but little else on the profile. Medium body with fine tannin. Held up rather well over several days of slow drinking. Will pick up a couple more.

For the cost you can’t beat it. Last tried this about a year and a half ago and thought it showed a lot better currently. Would recommend drinking in the next year max, didn’t take long to open up. Acid and tannins were high but certainly not as high as some other left banks out there. Picked up plum, mint and some tobacco. Thoroughly enjoyed it and wish I had grabbed more. In perfect condition after full term cellerage. Mid red and not very clear but not off flavour and a consistent healthy sweet fruit even after 45 minutes. the level of the Chateau and the62 years of age this had no right to be as good as it was even in 1962 was a good underrated year. Deep ruby in color with a slightly more garnet rim; cassis, black plums, baking spices, and molasses on the nose; medium acidity; medium plus tannins; tastes like blackberries, blueberries, eucalyptus, and wet gravel with a long finish.

Very smooth on the palate, in very good condition 23 years later, even though the cork was somewhat dry and cracked on removal. Some muted tannins. Good with red meats, but soft enough for some more robust seafood or vegetable or poultry dishes as well.

Blackcurrant, eucalyptus, menthol, cedar. Ripe fruit, maybe tobacco leaf and hibiscus. Powdery tannins. Really very good.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this Coufran - I've had many vintages over the years and have generally found them good value for the low price, but underwhelming otherwise. This surprised me with really nice fruit and structure, along with a slight earth note. I typically have loved the '09 vintage and this was no exception. This strikes me as excellent price/quality ratio, and I'll buy a few more.

Blackcurrant and a hint of eucalyptus. Pretty smell. Round and sweet fruited in the mouth, quite fat. Just about fresh enough, a good bit of leathery tannin but nicely resolved. Good value basic Bordeaux.

Very nice from the get go, but much better if you give it a good few hours of air in the decanter. I gave it 6 hours. Classic left-bank nose. On the pallet, smoky, graphite and leather. Good amount of berry fruit. Moderate tannins with a good overall balance. Nice finish. I think it will be even better in about 5 years. Lots of sediment! Good QPR at $25.

A hint of freshness mixed with plenty of tertiary flavours. Lacking intensity causing the high drying tannins to dominate the palate, leading to a slightly unpleasant bitter finish. Unfortunately I think this is past its prime. Deep garnet colour. Medium intensity aromas of plum, ripe strawberry, ripe red cherry, vanilla, decomposing leaves, leather and mushroom. Medium intensity palate. Medium (+) body, high acidity, high grippy tannins, medium finish.

I dont know him/her but I agree with Windflyer To a T. There was one sweet and dry highlight and it wasnt just fruit but the 2009 vintage is the true gem. It still has some legs and it still gives red dopamine effects so take it for the vintage, I'd say. Not the core flavor profile. Day 2 (vacu-viin) : Nvm. I lied. Tasty enough! :) It tastes how it looks. Bright on the outside. Dark on the inside.

Based on some of the other comments this bottle was a very pleasant surprise. Fully Mature Bordeaux, enticing nose, very well balanced, medium to long finish. PNP at La Maz in National City. Astringent upon first opening, needed long decanting time. Quite nice, round full bodied after several hours of decant. Would have placed this as a left bank classified bordeaux rather than Haut-Medoc. The best out of a 2001-2003 flight.

Now at its peak. (Decanted) Brick rimmed, intense ruby, throwing fine sediment. Nose of rich plum, meat, menthol but still some attractive acidity. Full flavoured, medium-long, plum fruits, slight mint, soft tannins. Drinking well now but needs rich jus. Don't keep any longer. Very enjoyable, good VFM.

Disagree with a lot of the posts here. This has held up surprisingly well. Nice satisfying aged Medoc. Decent fruit and a mellow smokiness somehow. All a little on the wane, sure enough, and the finish is short. But overall a pleasant surprise and a mellow, satisfying bottle. I had feared muck but all came out good in the end.

We could drink this wine every day. Nicely developed, tasty dark berry flavors without being over-rich, with nice acidity and well-integrated tannins. Without much experience with wines of this region, we really enjoyed what to us seemed an Italian inflection.

Still gorgeous clear garnet brick color. Cedary tobacco on the nose. Palate light at first but opens up and fills out very nicely over time. Still holding good plummy fruit and some soft but firm tannins. Finish is short-ish, but hey it's fifty years old.

Klassischer Medoc, erst etwas zu, es kommt dann aber noch etwas Leben, kein Highlight erwarten aber guter Steak Frites Wein oder wie in dem Fall zu gebratenem Kapaun! Für 10,90 Euro ne gute Sache.
