Popped and poured from the wine fridge and matched to trumpet mushrooms, mushroom & truffle triangoli. Sous bois, earth, iron/blood, leather, Asian five spice, soy sauce, mushroom, red berries, less obviously oxidised oddly. A little textured burr persists long and accompanies these mostly tertiary notes. Good time to drink this.

Coravin fun - Burgundy (My place, Kent Street) : From Coravin. Slight oxidised bruised apple and caramel notes, leather, porcini, earth, slight sous bois, red hued fruits. Medium plus intensity acidity, bitter fruit tea, drying tannins, earthy, meaty, somewhat muted red hued fruits, needs to be drunk with something gamey very soon (thinking Venison shoulder). On it's uppers.

From Coravin. Earth, blood, red berries, rhubarb and a tiny cherry note, slight rotten leaves, mushrooms, a little caramel and sweet spice. With time a touch of wet clay. This is quite sour cherry and rhubarb on the palate backed by drying, floury textured tannins, earthy, leathery, tertiary notes sit beneath this. Perhaps a little too sour with the duck and puy lentils

From Coravin. aromas of biscuit, very slight bonfire ash, leather, red berries, earth, a little mushroom and savoury spice, cedar. In the mouth its got slightly sour red berry fruit with a smidge of rhubarb, leathery, chamois soft tannic burr, a little mushrooms and herbs as well. Hmm.

Second Sunday Group: Aged Alsatian Riesling Vendange Tardive (Neil's) : Courtesy of NG. Aromas of cherry, tea, clove and orange rind. Spice, cheery and dried tea on the palate. Wonderful silky texture. Nice complexity and balance. Lovely.

Boerne wine club Nuits St Georges vs Vosne Romanee (Scenic Loop Cafe) : quite pale scarlet/chestnut. All primary fruit gone. Rather drying on the palate and on the decline, but still a nice drink

very smooth elegant, all primary fruit gone, light bodied. Clearly fading, but a very nice light drink with dinner now. ***
