Maison Camu Fils Chablis 1er Cru Montmains

While this does not show a ton of Chablis character and is a little rounder than I prefer, it was well-balanced and fresh through the finish. Satisfied with it at the sale price but is not something I would seek out.

Probably the least austere Chablis I've had. Honey, candied lime, biscuit, herbal, floral. Wet stoney and salty minerality. Crisp acidity, long-ish finish. Very nice!

Summary: This is the first wine in my short Chardonnay vs. Riesling test series - first part: a considerably oaked wine. It suggest that if you like Riesling and live in central Europe, you are likely to get a better deal with it than with Chardonnay, even if oaked.
