This is lush and relatively powerful for Chablis. Partly because it's a Grand Cru, but also this is very typical of the Moreau style, which I am a fan of. Mixtures of stone fruit and tropical fruit. Very floral even on day 2. This will last.

91-92 Quite pronounced color. A hint of Chablis and salinity on the nose and palate, but more Côte de Beaune style in feel. It's fine, fresh, quite racy, more round and fat than sharp, without …

Wine is pale gold in color, nose with lemon yogurt and peach, lemon lemon peel and lemon cream minerality on the palate, richer and creamier than expected

Jeune mais solide et complet. Gagnera encore un point avec un peu de patience.

White florals, yellow peach, jasmine and spice. The palate is broad and powerful yet with incredible definition, yellow orchard fruit, chalky minerality, sweet spices a round mid-palate finishing with succulence. I prefer Les Clos to this slightly, yet prefer this to Droin Valmur.

Creamier, yeastier nose, not oaky aromas. More acidity than the 2020 Vaucoupin. A little extract, more seashell than any oak imprint. 10% Barrel ferment and barrel aged, not noted as new.

Pale Straw colour. Terrific nose and a clean but weighty palate that is still a bit one dimensional but all things point to this being a bit of a cracker in 3-5 years time.

Great persistence with excellent fruit well balanced with some solid acidity. Things are dialed up here definitely a standout.

France Trip: Paris, Champagne, Burgundy; 9/3/2023-9/17/2023 (Paris, Champagne, Burgundy) : Light gold color. Split bottle between the four of us at Au Fils du Zinc in Chablis. Big and enveloping nose of ocean and brine, almost savory, with waves of lemon and Meyer lemon. The palate shows lemon oil, very concentrated, briny, lemon, flint and a touch of reduction. Very impressive, even more so at this age.

A more "modern" styled Chablis. Aromas show oak notes upfront followed by the notes of orchard blossoms, white flowers, chalk, sea mist, lemon, apple, hazelnuts, and hints of spice, creme fraiche and a faint smoky edge. The palate shows this wine is a richer, plumper style. Mouth filling with round-creamy textures and full weight. Oak is upfront on the palate as well and comes with notes of lemon and pineapple, salted butter, creme fraiche, orange blossom, spices and notes of …

Les Portes d'Or de la Bourgogne - Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Chablis France) : Walk around tasting. Floral and ripe aromatic start, with flavors that are more true to Chablis form. Good power and concentration with ripe apple, ending with bright, minerally textures, good+ length.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY) : Walk around tasting. Aromatically slightly tropical for Chablis, but palate reverts to the Chablis norm, with oystershelly textures. Clearly demonstrating Grand Cru density. Better from 2025 forward.

100% organically farmed Chardonnay from two parcels totaling 1 ha in Grand Cru Valmur, averaging 61 years old. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 9 months in oak barrels - of which 5% were new and the rest 1-to-4 yo barrels - (60%) and stainless steel tanks (40%), then blended into stainless steel tanks and left to marry for another 6 months. 13% alcohol. Tasted blind. Pale whitish-green color. Slightly exotic but also remarkably restrained nose with reticent aromas …

Slightly exotic, floral nose also brandishes lemon and iodine notes. There's a sense of ripeness on the nose, but while the palate is fairly rich with a trace of glycerine, there's a classic structure and minerality to the 2019 Valmur. Will reward patience.
