Looks like all the reviewers drank it too early. My line bottle was at 54 F and the cork was in pristine condition, easily removed with an Ah-So. Beautiful dark fruit aroma. Plenty of ripe dark berry fruit, almond paste, licorice and hint of plum. Paired great with chocolate cheesecake with visiting friends!

Same bottle as a year ago. Coravined for one glass and then one year with seeping bad cork. Still the same wine (amazing Mr coravin!), but I gave it two points more. Will have it tonight for stinky cheese and it is perfect for that. Possibly with some breathing even better.

Still in good shape, but I don’t care too much for Zinn Balanced, acidity still there. Huge alcohol - Portwine. Probably good with stinky cheese in lesser quantities. Respect for keeping up after 25 years nonetheless

Tasty, nice finish, but very simple. Not much more interest than a basic tawny with a Zin-tinged nose and even more candies cherry. I had hope that age would have brought some virtue.

Bouquet explodes with waxy golden sweet honeycomb, drizzled over strawberry jam sandwiches. Or for the more sophisticated, it's star thistle. The whiff finishes with raisins. When you take a sip, those same raisins are what you get on the tip of the tongue, not like eating raisins, but like eating the entire little red box with all the raisins in it. Then mid-palate, a bit of acid hits, then you get some Ribena—yes, the English soda juice—then it goes bold …

Maybe at an in between stage, or maybe fading. No formal notes, and this was the last of many bottles in an epic evening, so judgement deferred. Seemed subdued.

EWG at AKA: Fun, rich dark fruited port-style. Didn't rock my world, but in balance, some blackberry zin fruit with a hint of herbal blackberry patch.

Good nose with fruit showing through. Wine shows excellent balance with solid fruit and clarity. This wine does not appear overripe and presents itself as having the ability to age further, although there is no reason to wait. I am definitely pleased, given the vintage and the alcohol levels.

Still showing a lot of youthful brashness. I'm thinking we'll keep our other bottle for a while longer. Delicious with our chocolate souffl cake!

Excellent, really. Deep, sappy, fairly sweet, briary, varietally correct late harvest Zinfandel. Superb with locally made chocolate torte. Minimal heat, but high, well-hidden alcohol. Went quickly, and this half-bottle was perfect for six with dessert. Another 10 year+? Would be interesting to watch it evolve - it is just coming out of primary. Could be extraordinary in 30 years? Much better (more balanced) than the 2001. 92+ pts.

This was served to me blind from a half bottle. Deep dark purple. Fascinating nose of maple syrup, spice cake, crushed blackberries. Very thick and full bodied, with obvious alcohol throughout, but balanced and concentrated with beautiful plum and chocolate covered cherry flavors. I could tell this was not a vintage port, and guessed some sort of late harvest Aussie shiraz. It was obviously new world but an excellent example of an aged Zin. This was their first vintage of …

Another forgotten zin in my cellar. Should have had this at least two years ago. Still good, but could taste the age. Too bad!

Had with a big slice of chocolate cake. Nice pairing but wish some of the Roaring 40s blue cheese was left by the time we got to this. Very port like with raisins and cherries on the nose and a tart cherry flavor. As it sat in the glass, I got more of the alcohol but it wasn't in the way. I'd agree that the price paid was too high but I paid for it so long ago, I guess …

In the glass a medium dark ruby to the rim and a nose of raisins, caramel, cedar and spice - It is the nose of an aged zinfandel that could be called a late harvest wine. I am probably a little weird as I don't like young zins - I still have some from 1975. In the mouth a BIG wine that offers sweet stewed fruit, a raisiny effect, along with cedar, leather, spice and alcohol - the alcohol isn't hot but there …

Cork was clean on top but wine up the sides on removal. had no "turley Smell" . Dark purple on pour, with lighter edges, musty on initial taste. Poured half in small decanter, left for 2 hours. Came back to a very earthy wine, no sign of the must or that wine might have turned as ws our concern. Instead, some earthiness, followed by a leathery tannin that softened in your mouth. I did not get much fruit unfortunately, as signal …

I just don't get this extreme style of winemaking: grapes so painfully overripe that the aromas are stewed fruits and the flavors pure raisin, with an alcohol level that makes it virtually impossible to drink more than a couple of glasses without fatigue. I received this bottle as a gift; glad I didn't have to pay for it. Unfortunately, I have learned that whenever I see the name "Turley" anywhere in association with any wine, it's time to run screaming …

Medium body and color, with a clarity and precision that I don't generally associate with Turley Zins. Wonderful brambly berries and other black fruits. High alcohol with some bitterness, but paired with the right foods, it's pure lusty pleasure. Served with Italian sausage [not hot], toasted baguette and copius chard.

Delicious, port like late harvest Zinfandel. Yes, the alchohol level is very high, but it does not come throught as being overly alchoholic. A great wine with stilton chese. Just wish that I had some more in the cellar.

Clear garnet, med. body, brambly blackberry juice. Though very high alcohol, everything seems to work. Slight bitterness. Served with sautéed cube steaks, grilled tortillas, et al. Worked perfectly.

Excellent, very different than the Shafer '95 Port from Cabernet, which had some breadiness to it, this was more overtly sweet

Tasted at the winery. Since the time that Robert Parker initially tasted this wine, it has been dubbed "The Delinquent." The wine shows a deep ruby color and sports a nose of raisins, cranberries and dried red cherries. Full-bodied on the palate, with massive ripe tannins and well-integrated alcohol. Similar flavors as for the nose. Long, smooth finish. Very nice, but at $42 per 375 ml bottle, it is overpriced.

Tasted at the Turley tasting room in Paso Robles on 4/21/03. 1998 Delinquent: A port-like wine at 17.2% alcohol. Pleasant, but not much fruit flavor for a port. At $42 per 375ml bottle, I passed. I wonder if this was a bad bottle. It was not corked, but everything here was muted. After seeing a note somewhere from Board-O rating this a 94, I am even more convinced it was bad. Wish I could go back and try some more.
