Quick decant. Muted nose of black plum and raspberry. Dried and earthy black currant is dense but again a little dull, with dried rosemary and volcanic soil. Firm tannins and oak on the finish. Seems slightly tired at this tasting.

Love the acid, which is what I want (and my food wanted) from this lively Italian.

More aromatic, leather, tobacco nose. More full-bodied than Californian.Tannin so still has aging potential.

Color: medium ruby Nose: wonderful licorice and ripe dark cherry; some burnt tire and wet stone. There is plum and a range of tobaccoes like Latakia and Virginia. With time herbs and more plastic aromas as well as mackerel and sea foam Palate: medium-high acidity, medium-high tannins on a medium body. Sharp and cleansing. Aromas confirm the nose with a sour patch feel Finish: long Excellent wine that is really awesome right now and will also be good with age. …

PnP. Earthy plum, shoe leather, and olive brine on the nose. Dense palate weaves together tannin layers and dark red fruits, with acidity and a slight citrus tang. The fruits fade and the tannins take over on the finish before giving way to a bang of cranberry and a touch of dried herb and volcanic soil. Quite complex.
