Domaine des Ouled Thaleb, Tandem Syrah du Maroc

$30 & Up Syrah Tasting (Tom & Bruna's Edina) : Tasted out of the Glasvin Universal Stem. Well low alcohol and maybe too low. 12.5%. Very light wine with green olives, light currants, mild spice, chalk and dirt. For sure not a favorite of the night but fun to try.

Beau vin fort gouteux et généreux. Gorgé de fruits et d'épices. Mures et bleuets avec du poivre et de la cannelle. Un peu de viande et de fleurs aussi, Super long et bien persistant. On en redemande. Excellent.

Le Maroc dans mon verre, tout un poème! Ce 100% Syrah élevé dans la région de Meknès, à cheval entre Rabat et Fès, fut une véritable épopée gustative et sensorielle. Ayant davantage eu affaire à ses homologues Syrah du Levantin, je pensais converser avec un millésime, certes de caractère mais davantage réservé et casanier. En réalité, il en fut tout autrement. Dark purple in the glass. Nose of dark fruit, damson, mocha. Taste - great fruit, nice full supple flavours, good tannin, red-black fruit compote, blackberry, blueberry, damson, pepper. Puckering and full. Well made and I would get more.

Kul uttryck av Syrah! Mer mogen mörk frukt än hur jag finner motsvarighetenfrån norra rhone. Pepprigheten finns men lagrena och finessen saknas. Utstrålar ändå någon sorts kvalité och definitivt ett av de bästa vinerna jag druckit från Marocko. Inte gjord för ett långt liv i flaska. Drick nu eller inom tre år

1 hour after opening Nose: red and black fruit (strong blackberry, slight raspberry), smoke, black pepper, vanilla. Palate: medium bodied, medium acidity, savoury slightly green medium length. Very nice Nose like a medium matured southern Rhône CNP Rather than northern. Straight forward palate. Think should be good with a grilled burger or similar.

Developed very nicely, very nice nose of exotic spices and mature red fruits. Great development in the bottle for around 2 hours. Good acidity with a very spicy long finish. Very good wine.

Downing my last bottle. Nicely evolved and has further potential. Pretty much fruit-forward action, but with some nice savory nuances.

Appearance: deep, clear ruby/garnet, tears. Nose: Clean, m+ intensity Aroma:black & red fruit and savory (hammy) Developing. Palate: dry, m+ acidity, m+ tannin, m alcohol, m+ body, m+ flovour intensity. Characteristics: cherry, spice, leather savoury Observations: balanced & m+ length Very good with potential for aging

Dark fruit nose with plums and blackbberries, some florals, smoke, meat and salt liquorice. Fullbodied palate with ripe dark fruit, pretty refreshing tannins and supple tannins. Nice raspberry brightness with herbaceous overtones to the fruit. Some leather, bacon fat, liquorice and smoke. Lengthy. Good stuff, but definitely seems slightly fatter and darker than the 2007. Some two hours of breathing did brighten the wine up a bit.

Decanted for a small hour and a friendly wine opened up with beautiful fruity aromas and some herbs. Tasted this wine with couscous and lamb which combined very well, nice hints of ripe fruit and spices
