Prá,Staforte 2022 Colour: medium lemon,with green reflections Nose: clean,fragrant,fruity,apple,peach,pineapple,grapefruit,white flowers, and also a very mineral character. Palate: dry,medium bodied,medium alcohol,12,5%abv,medium-high acidity,savory,well balanced and quite persistent on the final. 88

This particular bottle was sealed with a Stelvin enclosure. No signs of oxidation and just as fresh as the Diam enclosed bottle four years ago. Flavor and aromatic profile was very similar to the prior bottle. Drink now, but this might drink well for a couple more years.

Diam cork vs Stelvin taste-off with the winery crew at last... Decanted an hour in advance, tasted blind. Cork preferred but when retasted at the end of the evening the Stelvin had put on depth and nuance. Overall both wines were quite lively and delicious.

Did the Stelvin vs Cork test tonight. Both were delicious. Now that they are 5 years in, we decided that the cork version was "rounder" and had a bit more body. These could go beyond 2023 but why wait.

Did the screwcap vs fake cork taste-off. Almost identical, some of us preferred one or the other, but essentially didn't learn anything. I wish the "cork" had been real cork to see if there was more difference. Great wines either was!

Stelvin v cork face off. Quite similar, both with nice crisp acidity, a bit of honey, citrus, and floral aspects cork had some apple and pear notes right at the back of the palate that I didn’t pick up in the Stelvin, and the Stelvin was just a touch fresher and crisper. Both fine wines and I’d be happy to drink either; for me, the cork wins by a hair.

have this in Stelvin and cork, this was the former. Lovely, booming nose of stone fruit, mountain flowers, and minerality. Same in the mouth with med-full body, chalk, and beautifully balanced. A bit heavy for me. Extremely characteristic and rather classic for the reason. This is very nice. I am looking forward to a Stelvin vs cork tasting of this next.

This is pretty amazing! Full bodied, lots of minerality. Delicious. One of the best expressions of Soave Classico I’ve tried so far.

Very interesting comparison: 1x bottle of the exact same wine, but one closed under Stelvin and one under cork (Diam). Everyone preferred the cork, which seemed to be rounder, more subtle (perhaps a tad more hint of sweetness?) and not as taut. They definitely tasted quite different, and it was really fun to compare. 2-pack via Garagiste.

Fresh, and zingy with evolving complexity. Leads with tart lemon, tangy grapefruit, spicy white pepper, and barely ripe pear with a strong undertone of salty, ash laden rock. Developing. High acidity which supports a very long, zippy finish. This is one of the winery’s mid range offerings, a blend of 100% garganega grapes from its various vineyards and aged on its lees with battonage for six months in steel, then another year in bottle. Really nice bottles. Opened 1 each of cork and screwcap closures. Cork got some air and kind of turned angry and rough, while screwcap remained smooth and polished and the more enjoyable glass for te 2 hours it took the party to finish both bottles. this is definitely a re-buy.

Open since yesterday, from the MERUM degubox... N. Fruits (pear, banana...) a bit mineral and fatness, balanced and full, hints of flowers T. Very nice, stony and salty notes, nice complexity, good finish, some bitter hints, soapy and mineral, good acid balance; who said that Soave is boring??? Yesterday a bit better, pop it open and drink it fresh with friends ;)
